Had my hair cut many times by Sid when I was a teenager in the late 70s. I can still remember a conversation he had with his fellow barber about a noisey car exhaust that had gone past the shop and whether the noise was the result of the car being souped up or just a hole in the exhaust. They concluded that it was definitely a hole. An obscure memory but as a kid I remember being in awe of their banter.

very sad news,i have vivid memories of waiting for my feather cut in his shop at huntbatch street, the wood panelled walls full of stoke related pictures and photos, managed to get bubble gum stuck in my hair and sid and allan spent a good hour steaming it out to avoid cutting my flowing locks,r.i.p and condolences to his family.
And what Harry didn't say was that he had his first sexual experience in Sids salon in Hunbatch street
I remember it well I went in with a couple of older lads I was 15 and knew not much about anything . Sid says do you want to a mag to read while you wait lad . I said ok . He bought over a couple which I casually opened and then closed again pretty quickly . I must have gone like a beetroot cus the whole shop were pissing themselves laughing .
