Life can be really crap at times. But one thing everyone shared on this thread, is a love of Stoke City, and more often than not,as a result of a father who first tok you.
Dad's are ace.

Deepest sympathy, Mutts. So many of us go through it but for ever remember the happy days together. Dad was a season ticket holder until his eighties and realised the addiction he had provoked in me, from our first game together, in 48/49. During our last chat, he said, I'm afraid we'll never be in the first division again, kid, and I responded that we must go on fighting but, whatever, I'd be staying with them for ever. They did and I have. You'll find many such reminisces ahead and your affection for him will grow. *wipes some dust from eye*

Really sorry to hear that buddy, never ever easy but there is consolation in knowing the suffering is over and you've got some fantastic memories.

In the early hours of this morning the man that introduced me to Stoke City(Gordon Banks) sadly passed away after a two year battle with Dementia.Such a cruel illness but the consolation is he's no longer suffering. Will never forget the day at Notts County in 79 and the Autoglass trophy win at Wembley in 92 when you were with me or the phone call to you after promotion to the prem against Leicester.Thank you dad and I know you'll be cheering on the Mighty Potters from up above. Feels odd to 'like' such a comment but it is done with utmost consideration. We all have our tales to tell about how we came to be Stokies and I would imagine our parents, especially fathers, played a significant role in our indoctrination. The routines, the conversations, the arguments even, but always the love and gratefulness for they were the ones that brought you into the fold. I'm so very sorry to hear about this horrible disease taking your father but I'm glad you are already remembering those times that were special to you, and undoubtedly to him. All the best Mutts and deepest condolences to you and yours. EMP
