Following a fall resulting in complications Dad passed away peacefully at NSH early this morning. Dad was 92 and had been a Stokie since early 1930s when Sir Stan first played for Stoke. A season ticket holder for many years he introduced me to the Boothen End in 1963-64 and we attended matches home and away during the 1960s. Dad fought in Burma during WW2 and was a very proud independent man living in Stoke on Trent all his life. RIP Dad you will be greatly missed. So sorry for your loss, god bless your dad. 'We'll be with you'.

Sincerest condolences to you... I feel your pain as many others here and can relate to your circumstances as my dad, Albert Leese, passed away last year at the age of 96, sadly just three days short of his 70th wedding anniversary. He too was a life long Stokie (born Longton and worked in Florence Colliery) although exiled to Lincolnshire having ended up here from his first posting in the RAF during WW2 and meeting my mum. He served in Britain, North Africa, Italy and France. Once he had passed his driving test in 67, he never missed a home match and that's how I, born and bred in Lincs, came to be a Stokie myself. From the age of 5 I went with him (1969).
From personal experience, I can tell you that the grief you feel now will in time subside and you will be left with all the good memories to dwell on. Be rightly proud of him. Focus on his achievements, cherish the memories and he will live on in your heart.
RIP

My dad was a couple of years behind Neil Franklin at school and used to tell me what a fantastic centre-half he was. He also loved Steele, Stan, Soo, Peppit and a few more. It'll be 8 years this week since my dad died and it was a tragedy that he never saw us get promoted to the PL.
