Ryan is talking of being back in time for the Watford game, according to the Sentinel. Bloody hope so, wonderful news if true.

Brilliant news I just hope we don't rush it. Will be massive getting him back not just for his defensive qualities but as a leader too.

I'm sure that every fan will be forgiving, but I guess it will take Ryan quite a few games to settle back into the team.
Great news that he's making such good progress and looking forward to seeing him return

Yeah a lot of people had written him off for this year, so this is potentially fantastic news !

Great news. Better than any of our summer signings.
We must not be tempted to rush Ryan back though, as he is probably the most important member of our squad.
We are a much, much, much better team with Ryan Shawcross.

Ryan trained with the Academy lads today.
Step forward the brainiacs who said he shouldn't be named in the squad before Christmas.

Latest is he may possibly be back for the Swansea game - like having a (bloody good) new signing!!!! This will give everyone a lift.

It's only when someones missing you realise how much you miss them. He's been a huge loss. Even a 70 percent fit Ryans worth his place.

It does show that the club really knew best against all the doom mongers who were telling us that they should go out and buy a Ryan replacement.

Great news though I think we'll need to be patient as he's had no pre season and will probably be nursing his back a bit till he becomes more confident over it.

True i suppose, but he isn't out of the woods yet........I'll be very surprised to see him match fit so soon. Hope there's no setbacks and fingers crossed for the lad....and us

He's been running for a couple of weeks, but I think the physical contact is what they are worried about, I suppose his wife could shed more light on that.

Would it be hyperbolic to assume that if this operation turns out to be a success then it could add several seasons (at the top) to his career? And it might even allow him to reach a higher ceiling? If so then I would have no problems whatsoever with being as cautious as possible with ryan even if that caution costs us several places in the table come May.

I will be honest and say I was one of them....listening to the severity of the injury, I was thinking to myself "shit ! thats him out for the rest of the season" but hey glad to be made to look like a bit of a tit ! Goooaarrn Ryan lad - take it easy and get bak FULLY fit and firing and none of this half cocked fitness

To be fair Mark Bowen said "Three months from start to finish, maybe longer" back in mid August. They must be bloody relieved at his progress.
