I never cease to be amazed at the negativity of so many posters on Oatcake. We have signed some excellent players this window and invested in the future. Many posters are like spoilt children who've received loads of Christmas presents but are not satisfied, upset they didn't get what they wanted, and jealous of what others have got. I think N'Zonzi was our player of the season, but he was not that great. No top side in England or Europe were slightly interested in buying him. (Seville are not a top European side IMO.) I think we are going to have a great season when the new players settle in, and will gather momentum. No think about it he was our player of the season last season, if he was not that great we should have had no problem replacing him with an equal or better player, on the evidence so far have we done that granted we have a loan player in his position who by the way belongs to Chelsea.

It's pointless any of us attempting to be the voice of reason on here; we just get shouted down by the "moaning minnies". I've lived through many tough years as a Stokie in my 40 years of going to games (and seen some shocking players in the red 'n' white stripes in that time). The current squad is right up there with the best we've ever had (late 40s and early 70s), yet trying to point that out to keyboard warriors on here appears futile. Yes, there are some issues which remain to be addressed, but By God I can't wait to see the new team, with Bojan, Arnie and Shaq tormenting opposition defenders, in full flow!

Sorry wasn't around the late 40's the 70's team had pretty much everything and should have won more than we did, I understand your excitement however on the evidence thus far it looks as though it may be short lived, I hope you are right I have been going to games since 1965 and felt that at the end of last season we were on the cusp of something big, I feel we have missed an opportunity to achieve that with too many if's and poor decisions lead by financial constraints.

Think it's the reverse actually. At this moment in time this board and it's moderators have a real problem with people expressing their opinions and anxiety about the current situaion, for example the recent transfer window. It's not about "the voice of reason" ...it's about everyone having a say about what they really think. Right or wrong.

Second best window in my time following Stoke I reckon. Behind the Bojan snatch up. So many experienced players for free keeping similar wage bill to last season and saving enough to buy Shaqiri. Was an early window but boy did it have a good mental.

I think that the older generation, compared to the younger generation have a valid point. I'm by no means old at 48, but I respect the guys who are generations ahead of me, and pour disdain on the 5 minute kids who want it all now. It's all about perspective, and with many Stoke fans so far apart in that respect, it's almost impossible to achieve. Stoke City Football Club, but please let's all try and get along.

I don't really get this "we let one of our stars (Huth) leave". He played 12 games in 2013/14 and 1 one last season. Prior to that he averaged about 34 games a season. So I don't see how he ccontributed a lot to Hughes's first two years when we finished in our highest position ever in the Prem. Same with Moses he only played the first half of last season.

Oh no Sir The more disagreement the better. I think it's the general tone of the conversations. Haha ...made a bit of a joke there and didn't realise.

Quite right. It saddens me to read the constant carping and criticism of our defenders when year after year Stoke is in the top half of the PL in terms of goals conceded. Our persistent problem has been scoring goals not conceding them. MH is steadily putting a team together that will be scoring lots of goals. He has had a lot of bad luck with injuries to Wingie and Bojan, and it clearly takes time for the forwards new to the PL to adapt their play to beat PL defences. I am confident MH wull get us to a standard where we will actually win something again.

Why is it that most of the media and most outside your club think you've had an exceptional window? Because you have.
The two players that have gone - didn't want to be at the Brit any-more and the fees you've taken have offset your spend.
Net spend is bollocks IMO and disguises the real investment. BB and the other paranoid knicker wetters on here need to reflect properly on the gains you've made without the hyperbolic noise. After 38 games you'll be more than pleased with where you finish IMO.

But where's the fun in being reasonable on a messageboard? you are absolutely correct though... Just as a matter of interest: I recently came across an old compilation cassette tape that a Hammer mate sent me in the late 90's {not sure of the the exact date}. I also wish I could scan the hand drawn cover... it's entitled: 'SLAVEN BILIC: A mid season tribute to the greedy Croatian Judas. 2 Reds, 7 Yellows, 2 games banned in October, 5 in December, "I want to go to a Club where I have a good chance of winning things, I will have a better chance of doing that at Everton, rather than at West Ham" Bilic.' It's a brilliant pencil drawing of Slaven flicking the V's, my mate wonner happy with him. The tracklist included the genius Half Man Half Biscuit: 'Paint Ball's Coming Home'. Do you think he'll do ok? any lingering bile for him?

Cheesey - I agree completely. Bilic couldn't wait to benefit from the filthy lucre Everton were offering - he didn't win dick mind.
Whatever, he was still largely appreciated for his qualities (football intelligence) and all is forgiven if he can move us forward.
He's already out-tactied Wenger and Brenda so we've a good'n if he can keep it going.
I know people think we were mad to get rid of "safe Sam" (boring) but on reflection I prefer the excitement/risk/ride of where we are now.

Only redeeming features are Cockney Rejects and Alan Alan Devonshire, oh and it'll be easy to get tickets next year if I fancy taking in a game. I wish you'd kept Sam. Suitably dull. Is Bilic a Dicanio lite? I am interested in how he does. But the Prem can't function with too much Claret about. Burnley last year, it's you or Villa this time around.

I feel very happy about the window, as outlined here. As the article says: 'One slight regret the management team may have is not strengthening the defensive midfield position'.
