What a load of fucking shit. Scholes still blowing smoke up his own anus yet we haven't landed one of our main targets all summer long and haven't replaced our player of the season. He must thing our supporters are mental happy clapping seals.
He's right.

Whether you agree with Scholes or not, that's a great article in the national press about us and what we are trying to do. Great stuff and long overdue.

Presumably he was too busy on his early morning calls to read an article with his name all over it saying when we were signing the like of Charlie Adam and Geoff Cameron the bloke is utterly inept , we have totally outgrown him as a CEO .
This is clearly his hedge against failure to deliver the much vaunted next level and repositioning it as Affelay is that next level .
For what it's worth my view is the money is available but our negotiating position is still Charlie Adam and Geofff Cameron so while the club and the money have moved on that piece hasnt hence the untouched war chest and a squad currently showing negative

The usual suspects are busy today i see. Give it a rest eh. Must admit I thought you 2 would have been wrist-slashing over Aranguiz' potential transfer to Leicester.....'look at leicester, they can sign 10.5million players easy, why cant we? Our transfer team are useless, everyone is useless, the corners are useless, glenn johnson is useless, club doctor is useless etc etc etc'. I am one of the most miserable gits my friends know (most in jest), but I'm Rusty fookin Lee compared to you 2!

Some people will never be happy no matter we achieve. I have no problem with people who offer constructive criticism, but some of the rubbish posted on here defies belief. Here we have an article in a national newspaper which does nothing but show us in a positive light but fans still choose to chuck shit at the chief executive.

I can understand that most people are dazzled by the Barcelona link, what larks indeed but we're weaker at the back, haven't replaced our most important player and have a hugely unbalanced squad. Not the time for Scholes to start sucking himself off in my opinion.

IMO we need a centre back, winger and someone to replace Nzonzi, we completely lack a physical prescence and my fear is that we will get overrun. However this is the managers remit not that of the CEO. He has been charged with bringing in players that are completely unrealistic at our stage of development. He is obviously going to talk it up, thats part of his job but to blame him for everything when some of the decisions made are clearly down to the management team is wrong.

We needed a right back - we've signed one We needed a central midfielder - we've signed one/possibly 2 We needed a wide man - we've signed one/possibly 2 We needed a striker - we've signed one Now why don't you try giving these players a chance to prove themselves before slagging off our transfer team and ultimately our manager.

It wasn't so long ago that we weren't making any signings of any note right up until deadline day itself, and folk were bemoaning that we weren't doing our business early enough and that we were overspending at an alarming rate(which I agreed with). Now we are getting our business done and adding real quality and future promise to our already talented squad, fans are moaning their bags off that we aren't spending enough and that the players aren't good enough before they've even played a competitive game for us. You couldn't make it up.

Other than the Centre Half I have no strong feelings either way on any of our signings and am sure that most will work out to varying degrees. The facts are though that we haven't replaced our most important player and have failed to acquire our three main targets. This certainly doesn't appear to me to be the time for the Chief Executive to start fellating himself in public. He obviously thinks fans are fucking stupid. Sadly, I think he's probably right.

Good article, not that many Stoke supporters need it pointing out, but its a timely reminder as to how far Stoke City has progressed in recent years, particularly over the last two seasons.
I'm sure there are plenty of fans of rival clubs up and down the country who are more than a little envious of Stoke City right now.
Can't wait for the new season to begin.

Scholes is basically saying the club is doing well and the last two seasons have shown significant progression. How can you argue with that? Our three main targets were obviously going to prove difficult to acquire and there is nothing to say we wont get one of them but its the management team that selects the targets not the CEO. What do you expect Scholes to say........Mark has selected certain players that are way beyond us and we have no chance of getting them? The CEO is not resonsible for everything that is wrong about Stoke City. As I said in a previous post I have reservations about the current squad but we are doing alright. Stop calling fans stupid, when they have a different view to yourself. It does you no credit.

The chief executive thinks fans are stupid and if they swallow the crap in the article they are sadly living up to his expectations. Not on the heels of his 'next level' bollocks, we lose three key players and are operating a huge transfer surplus. Its all smoke and mirror PR bullshit. Don't swallow it!

TBf to Sheik he has a point or three. We have failed in our pursuit of our main targets and the article clearly points out its Scholes main brief. That along with the poor media & IT output , marketing, late production of shirts etc he has some questions to answer particularly as outside of the playing staff he is the highest paid member of staff. It appears in these transfer"dealings" LMH is a bring in last resort to try to get them over the line instead of an up front first approach. We can attract better players and in my opinion a better CEO.

Sheikh has a point about but the missed attempts at some key signings but this article is about brand Stoke (groan) and these kinds of articles that could add weight to our attempts to get the higher targets so in that sense it's nothing but a great read and useful.

He must thing our supporters are mental happy clapping seals. He's right. Predictable Sheiky transfer window verdict.......unmitigated disaster! That's strangely been the verdict for every window since Tone, Parso and Kempo were relieved of the responsibility. You can see the point though given the standard of player in the squad has improved every subsequent window, the level of performance on the pitch has improved after every subsequent window and our league position has improved at the end of every subsequent season. The now profitable football club that has subsequently wiped out the debt driven by the previous blistering transfer windows should take heed. stop being comforted by the happy clapping delighted customers and start listening to the lonely fuckwits who have dug themselves into a horrendous and lonely corner.
