For me it was the fact that it was his debut and must have been nervous however, stood up well when 1 v 1 in the box , showed great bravery despite being goaded earlier by a rough challenge, his handling was good and yes his penalty saving needs work but you could not ask for more from a young man in his first game in a Stoke strip. Think Lakuka thought he was going to bully him ,in the end it was Lakuka that was flat out on the beck.

Let's be honest if we had paid £5 million for the lad it wouldn't have looked like we'd overpaid on today's showing. He looks like another of Hughes' bargain buys. Early days of course, but keeper's thrive on confidence and today's performance will have done him the world of good. Let's hope that the coaching staff and Given get him to work on his penalty technique - we could have a gem on our hands.
I assume his "proper" debut will be in the League Cup - I will look forward to that after today's performance.

Good debut for the lad. One piece of advice re saving penalties.....Stand up, stand up, stand up! Don't give the player an easy ride. If he sticks it in the corner you ain't getting it anyway. If he puts it near you theres's a great chance you will save it.

If you know what i mean.

I liked his aggression as well as his ability to stop close in shots from Everton. Great debut for the lad.

Very pleased with his display.
Needs to remember that attackers will close you down at this level so no dawdling on the ball before clearing and needs to work on his penalty saving.
Cracking saves from Naismith and Lukaku- plenty of positives from a player who many assumed wasn't going to be good enough. Only one match but he's shown enough to say he's more than adequate to be number three.
When will he get a game though? Surely Butland will be our league keeper and Given will play in the cup.
It would be good if we could get him out on loan locally with a recall clause, but the arrangement being that he trains with us three days a week.

Looks too good to be left languishing after this performance.
Good predicament to have though.

Yep i think he should be loaned out also, as long as he has a recall clause as you say because an injury to Butland or Given would mean we would need him on the bench. If he can get a year at a decent club on loan to continue his development, in the coming years he could become real competition for Butland.

Begovic and Butland rave(d) about him. I wouldn't want him scratching around some shithole missing that kind of expertise. Sent from my Nexus 5 using proboards

Big imposing figure, looked confident and composed considering it was his first game for us. I could well see him forcing his way onto the bench over Given if he continues in a similar vein going forwards.
