Me and some mates caught up Fri nite in castle. A couple of bottles in hopwater cellar. Then onto lymstone vaults. That place is a good pub. I was on a pint called Stone the crows. Was a great pint. A rich red to dark beer about 5.4% strength. Stone the crows is lovely. Stone faced is another good one. Abominable Stoneman is an American Pale Ale and is lethal. I mean lethal.

Leek would be a good Crimbo drinky location.
Or, the top of Castle crawl or the bottom crawl.
Or, centre of Stoke... might be pushing it.

Okey Dokes. Eyes front. I know I've mentioned this before but Blackcurrant and Liquorice stout, Happy Valley Brewery, 4.6%, London Road Ale House. Remember those Backcurrant and Liquorice sweets when you were a kid Those, in a pint of stout.

As far as plans go, me and a few Brookers are planning on a Hartshill minicrawl on the Widgie night. 8 oclockish start.

Ok Rog, I know we've probably been through this before, but you're an expert on that neck of the woods. What would be the best four pub crawl down the bank to the Rigger? Greyhound , Hop Inn, Alma, Museum? or skip a couple of those start higher up, Old House?

If you prefer the more micro pub real aley scene then start at The Sanctuary at Hartshill lights then 100 yds down heading into Castle you've got the Artisan Tap then Greyhound then Hop Inn. If you're more inclined to the good old fashioned boozer then you could do Greyhound, Hop Inn, The Victoria (little Vic) then cut through the car park to the Museum. A more circular walk than G hound, Hop Inn then 'back' to the Rigger. That said were talking hundreds of metres tops for the whole lot of 'em. The Alma is no more. Closed down.

I've got another partay to do on the 22nd so wouldn't bore you all night.

I'll do some rallying later, and let you know. I'm not keen on a solo taxi, I need a gang to make it economical to leave the Brook. If I'm all alone I've got the offer of a lift to the gig at 9. So no real scope for a crawl if that happens. Discharge are at the Underground Hanley that night too, it's divided loyalty amongst the flock.

Hop Inn, Newcastle, Staffs.
Deya Brewery. "This ain't my first rodeo" 6.3% Oatmeal coffee stout.
You know those iced coffees you get in Greece?
Those, but jet black, the size of a pint and very, very easy drinking for 6.3%.
Drink this if you want to do karaoke. Anytime, anywhere, any song :-)
Do not drink this if you don't like coffee.

So, two recent dark ones.
Tiny Rebel Brewery, Stay Puft marshmallow porter. Now, don't be put off with the marshmallow thing being too sweet. It isn't. But it does amazingly taste of marshmallow!! Available in bottles here and there but if you come across the draught stuff it'll feel like your birthday. 5.2%. Tiny Rebel are one of my fav brewers. Started only a few years ago by a couple of mates who are now going off. Check their website for their story. I've never had a bad pint. FUBAR was a good one. CWTCH won a Beer of Britain award and their TROPICANA is a fruity/hoppy/zingy pleasure.
Next up, and it's a biggy..... Fernandes Brewery from Wakefield. Black Voodoo chocolate orange stout. 5.1%. We all know about Terry's chocolate orange's. It's that. That Christmas stocking filler, chilled, in liquid form. Shit a brick it's awesome. A Terry's fucking chocolate fucking orange in a pint pot. Smells like it, tastes like it. I don't usually do plugs but £3.50 a pint at the London Road Ale House.

By all accounts Nottingham is the epicentre of this latest real ale micro brewery/pub revolution. Enjoy.

Feel of a bottle kiln inside, high conical stone walls above the bar as I recall. Not been for a while. Was a rallying point for crusaders, oldest 'licensed premises' etc. A sup before setting off. Used to like the Piano Bar nearby too.

And a nice statue of Robin Hood nearby to see and read some history. Was on a session copper colour ale. Sorry name escapes me. Made it to my fave The Pit n Pendulum and they only had Hobgoblin Gold on tap winner so was on that. Then at night and again annoyingly I forgotten name we found a great Rock bar. It was a really good pub rock stars on the wall a place you wouldn't take your gran ha ha. Off the ale by this point couple of Hop House 13. I'm no larger drinker but this is good stuff. One of the lads told me a disappointing fact though. He checked after a discussion. The Lymestone Brewery don't do a tour shame really.

I usually am heading to The Rescue Rooms when visiting Nottingham. Brilliant venue.

Nice and romantic gentle afternoon tour around a few of the newer hostelries in Leek.
Love Leek me.
Dragon - Phoenix Wobbly Bob Fountain - Jaipur Cobblers - A weird ice creamy bitter from Sheffield, 'Northfield Farm Blue Guernsey' or somesuch Quiet Woman - Rudyard Red, Staffs Brewery, and a Stone the Crows from Lymestone.
Chatting Bowie with Pej in Isaac's vinyl emporium. He asked me what music I was into, I regret now not asking him about his faves. He returned my Ktf fist.
A bit starstruck with the normality of it.
Nice aft.
