Press conference called /photo/1 Its the FBI we WANT to hear from not the Swiss circus Dunner werrit Joe.....this from New York Times late last night as the news broke here early this morning. "The case is the most significant yet for United States Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch, who took office last month. She previously served as the United States attorney in Brooklyn, where she supervised the FIFA investigation. Ms. Lynch and F.B.I. Director James Comey were expected to hold a news conference on Wednesday morning in New York."

The Olympics Organising Committee went through this process, and cleaned it's act up, hopefully FIFA or whatever replaces it will follow the same path.
I hope the surplus money sloshing around, gets given to grass roots football.

Just kidding but corrupt organizations like this have a habit if throwing up scapegoats then business as usual. Blatter is far too cunning to be openly involved and may even use this as a reason why he didn't publish the report and justify the investigations he has undertaken. Signed Even more miserable cynic named Joe

This is amazing news. If actual prosecutions follow then there can be real hope FIFA can be reformed.

Big men - big organisation - big legal representation - (FIFA) they will close ranks and litigate
The timing is very interesting - I can only presume something or someone even bigger, more powerful than Blatter has something massive evidence wise on them and, has decided to change things at the very top of our game.
Can Only be a good thing if it runs its course as most people imagine - i.e. they are found to be corrupt and, are proven guilty
and of course, Blatter is finally toppled

Just hoping that this is the breakthrough that bursts the dam. Both those who received the bribes and those that gave them need to be dealt with. Also ALL of them need to be discovered and dealt with.

From press conference
Instigated by FIFA last November; FIFA the damaged party and have cooperated by providing all documents requested, no raid. Sec and President not involved.
Let the bullshit begin.

Talk Sport saying there are 2 separate investigations. One by the Swiss on the back of documents received on 18th November and one by the FBI as US banks were used to launder the money. FIFA are saying they were aware of the Swiss one but not the US one, though the timing 2 days before their vote wasn't known.

he's in charge of the organization, if he's remotely involved in any of the corruption (or if he isn't it shows a certain incompetance) he will go, also the American government have requested that he be ousted, Fifa has 1.5 billion dollars in reserves, the American government has the right to freeze that under white collar crime. My money is on that he will go.

There's no way that Blatter would allow the release of documents if he knew his name was mentioned. It will have been set up to let the authorities chase down others whilst he walks away unscathed. I only hope that the officials that were arrested all agree to hang Blatter out to dry to avoid long prison sentences.
