Not at the League game, my recollection is that PMT were on strike that day but was at Hillsborough for the Semi Final. The JCL'S think our hatred of Arsenal is a recent thing. Some of us have long memories...

I was there (Boothen paddock by the tunnel), brings it all back. The easy easy easy shouts etc. What a great team that was with Big John, Dobing, Jimmy, Harry, Conroy and Smithy, real class! Thanks Harry.

I was there on the Boothen end as a rock hard 14 year old, ahem. Like lancashirelad further up this thread I am certain that we were on our way to emulating or even bettering that result earlier this season until Anthony Taylor decided he needed to intervene on Arsenal's behalf. That would have been a sweeter victory than yesterday, not that yesterday isn't something to celebrate and treasure.

Yeap I stood on the Stoke End as a 9 nine year old and if I remember right it was on MOTD that Saturday night in black and white.
One of the most rememberable matches as a young kid going to the old Victoria Ground with my late Dad.
I think Terry Conroy and Jimmy Greenhoff scored but can't remember who scored the other ones.
Those were the days!

I think the Arsenal win was better as they were the best side around at that time and won the double. A bit like beating Chelsea today. But that takes nothing away from the fantastic performance yesterday, it is a little unfair to compare as times have changed.

I was there on the stoke end, Bloor got the fifth, in the Sunday papers Wilson said stoke didn't play that well Arsenal had an off day.

Standing on Stoke End right hand side about one third up from front, got a cracking view of Conroy's goal. Can still remember it and it is all the sweeter given our enCounters with Arsenal at that time. Can never come to terms with those two semi finals so can't really complain when they are banging on about brave little Aaron Ramsay.
I think another game that comes to mind from that era was a 4-1 spanking of Wolves after being 1-0 down at half time. Again, seem to remember Mr Burrows having a hand in that one but could be wrong . . .

I was there at the 5-0 demolition of Arsenal - 13 years old and in the Boothen End.
Fantastic atmosphere and the noise just got louder with every goal.
Great day and great memories, but so long ago now.
Great day yesterday and although I wasn't at the ground I watched the match with disbelief as we tore Liverpool apart. As has been said previously I hope this is the omen that some real success is just around the corner for us.

Brilliant day and remember it well. We were in the Corner Stand and even saw ourselves on MOTD afterwards. "Terry, Terry Conroy, Terry Conroy on the wing" was the best player on the pitch and scored a great goal.
Was at the 6-1 victory over Villa in 1966 (whacked a Villa fan accidentally on his bald head after we scored our sixth with my wooden rattle - remember those?). But...
Haven't stopped smiling since yesterday. My wife and I have spent today in Liverpool for the three queens on the Mersey. A super day out but made even better by being able to remind the red half of Liverpool of the score from yesterday. My Everton mate texted me at half time to say that the biggest cheer of the day at Goodison was when they announced the score and they are almost more pleased about that than worried about their score. One red told me that they were getting rid of Rodgers and we're looking to appoint Ancelotti... I simply asked why he would take such a backwards step? He had no idea what to say.
Still smiling.

Told this story before, but I was going out with a girl for a while, and remember leaving her early on that evening to get home and watch Match of the Day. I can still see Terry Conroy's goal in my minds eye without watching it again! Loved that team! Loved that celebration by Jimmy Greenhoff too.

I went to the game all those years ago.
I went the year before, which was a very boring 0 - 0 game, and this game was very slow to get going. Big John Ritchie scored 2 just before the break.
Conroy´s third was the "real opening of the floodgates" as Greenhoff soon chipped one in from a very tight angle. Alan Bloor netted the fifth as Bob Wilson parried a shot from Jackie Marsh.
Conroy´s goal was wonderful; it did win goal of the month............but not goal of the season (it was voted second, Bryan "Pop" Robson won after scoring for Newcastle away to West Ham).
The game was on Match of the Day............Alan Weeks was the commentator. Bob Wilson had just started his media career (at the same time as playing)and every week he commented on the goals scored from a goalkeeper´s point of view (which was extremely new in those days). However, that Saturday night he was NOT on the show............which caused a lot of debate. So much so that the following week he felt obliged to go on the show and comment on the Stoke goals. I recall him saying that Marsh should have scored with his shot.
Banks didn´t play for Stoke that day...........injured and John Farmer replaced him. Ironically he said in the Sentinel the day Before that although he was looking forward to the game, he knew that even if Stoke won 5 - 0, he would be in the reserves the following week.
The sending off of Peter Storey took place on the 13th December 1975. Storey was a vile player (and a vile person too; he later went to jail for working as a pimp among other crimes). Stoke won this game 2 - 1 and Storey got a real ear-bashing. He knew he was in trouble and he kept his head down as he walked off. The police I recall were anxious..............I really thought he was going to be attacked.
On the radio driving home, Peter Lorenzo said on Radio 2 sport that in all the years he has followed football, he had never heard such hatred in the booing.

I was there in my usual place just under the "D" on the Boothen end, I missed the semi final at Hillsboro because I was at my mates wedding, was listening to the radio on the way to the reception when Arsenal scored the equaliser, I have never been so devastated in all my life, the start of a 43 year old hatred of anything Arsenal.
Incidently I was also at the 9-1 thrashing of Ipswich and the Ipswich goal, I think it was Broadfoot, scored the best goal of the match. Yesterdays game, whilst not perhaps as good as the Arsenal performance was the closest we have been since.

The hatred was only made worse with the "ice-cream seller" offside replay.

I was at all 3 of Villa, Ipswich and Arshole games but there's another floating around my head and that was a 6-2 win over Northampton town. They did a Bournemouth in the 60s but got relegated every season after that.

I think they had 3 successive promotions to the First Division and then had 3 successive relegations. Amazing.

Yes, I was there aged 12. I remember Terry Conroy’s thundering goal but not the others. Wish I had been there yesterday! Was in a pub in Filey watching the Hull v Man Utd game and sat there in absolute amazement as the commentary was constantly being interrupted to report the latest Stoke goal. I had the great pleasure of telling a Liverpool fan the score just before news came through of Crouch’s goal to make it six.

I was also there in the Stoke end couldn't believe it when I saw 3 TV cameras which meant we would be on MOTD later that night. Hugh Johns and ITV's Star Soccer only ever had 1.

Is my memory correct. We beat dirty leeds 6 v 2 . The following season they claimed it wouldn't happen again and it didn't. We hammered them 7 v 2.
