Both David Cameron and Ed Miliband have insisted they will not sign Britain up to an EU army.
There we go then.

Wasn't this part of the Lisbon Treaty that Gordon Brown signed and the Irish were repeatedly forced to go to the polls for until they voted Yes?
A single state Europe with a single military has been planned for decades, it's inevitable.

Its not whats wrong with it but how its used and going by how they have behaved in the middle east and the ukraine its quite alarming really. Potentially getting dragged into conflicts on the whim of unelected power freaks.

What are the negatives of an EU army? It would further cement the EU as the United States of Europe. In the future countries like England and Italy will lose autonomy and just become the European equivalent of say Illinois or Florida.

Farage is brilliant, he doesn't fuck about, calls a spade a spade an all that. Hope he wins and it shows all these fact based tossers how to run a fucking country.

Not sure I understand the need for this when we already have a supranational armed forces; NATO.
So we already are connected militarily with our European friends and a few extra ones as well.

There's a need if you reflect on the bigger picture . The main priority is to keep us all tied together...handcuffed if you prefer . It also means more trade between member states . Lastly , it keeps a united front in the face of Soviet aggression . Basically , if the soviets shoot a 'Euro soldier ' then you incur the wrath of a number of countries . A dead Euro fighter represents a number of countries....if you follow my drift .

What are the negatives of an EU army? Remind me when I had a chance to vote on this? Or anything to do with the transfer of power from parliament to the EU? Remind me when we were asked to join some European super state? We give a mandate every 5 years or so for parliament to govern us. We have never been asked for our consent for parliament to give those powers to some other body.

They want it because they're Power crazy, unelected, unremovable barm pots.....it just lends more proof to the views that we are being assymilated without a democratic say.

I think this heralds the beginning of Germany's third attempt at world domination; even the European Commission President was named after a German dive bomber!

No, Nein, No, Nein, No, Nein and on into infinity.
There is simply no way.
Hate to sound all UKIP about this, but my grandparents voted for a single market, not single currency, laws imposed from Brussels, single army and (in all likelihood), single taxes in the future.
If this is the way forward then we need to have a national vote on whether we want to be a part of this.

Every country in the EU is drastically cutting it's military budget, they'll sell the EU army to us as the only 'solution'.

I'm going to go all Starkiller here for a minute......The big wigs have now told us an EU army is on its way......only a few years ago they were denying this.......our armed forces have been slowly cut to the bone for many years.....drastically in the last and this government......and what about this one for an SK theory.......to encourage support for an EU army and get the EU sceptical public on side....we have hostilities with Russia ......we even have Russian bombers flying near UK airspace we will soon have Brussels telling us it would be a sensible thing to bring us all together to strengthen our hand ...A UNITED STATES OF EUROPE ARMED FORCES.........a fucking joke army i have become very sceptical of not only politicians, but the media too as big business are the real puppet masters

Can't see it happening really to much differences

I think it's a good idea. United we stand, divided we fall. Cheaper to run. Much harder to drag an entire continent into pointless miserable wars. What's the negative?

Can't see it happening really to much differences One of the ships I was on was part of stanaforlant (standing naval force Atlantic) that worked very well, no French UK, yanks, canadians, norwegians, dutch (submarine), italians, portugese and a couple of other smaller europeans, no problems. Some people look for the problems in things before they even know the full proposals or the history and how it's worked for many years.

So what happens when we're part of this and the Argentinians decide to make a land grab for the Falklands? Can you see Spanish, French and Italians supporting action?
