Clearly got his Agent whispering in his ear telling him such and such are after him. Always seems to lose concentration for weeks following transfer speculation, but still played well today and made good saves. Still is and always will be a class above Butland. I'm sorry but how can you say that? Butland is 22 and has hardly played for us. Just think Butland is hugely over rated and mainly because he's English.

Where I can't commit to wanting him dropped, I do worry about what seems to be a serious drop in confidence. This also lends itself to him not commandeering the defence and watching them generally twat about in front of goal. He doesn't seem to be as vocal as he was a few months ago. Some of the antics from the back 4 today would have had Bego bawling his head off and waving his arms around, but he looked positively disinterested

Bego's mistake was bad, but at least it wasn't as bad as Brad Guzan's for Villa.

Must stop making mistakes! He has not been at his best most of the season. Think it's time to give Jack some gametime anyway!

I'm not calling for his head. But he's had a poor season by his standards.

No need for the abuse on here. Anyway I take the more pragmatic approach. He's going to go at some stage and there's no doubt we need an hairy arsed centre forward so this may well be as good a time as any to part ways. He's been good for us for sure but we have bigger priorities elsewhere.

No one can deny he's a had a poor season, and has been awful the last 5-6 games but I seem to think it was the 5-0 at Bolton a few years ago wherehe was dropped for a few games and came out much better, maybe the same again?

I'm not calling for his head. But he's had a poor season by his standards. This. I have no explanation why either. He has been the consumate pro for us (apart from the shrewsbury tantrum), but he has had a bad season...although the previous 3 he has been one of the best if not the best in the Prem.

Enough's enough now. It doesn't matter how good you are or what you've done in the past: drop a clanger every week for about 4 or 5 games on the trot and you need dropping.
Butland in for next week please.

I don't think many people disagree about Bego being a fantastic goalie, but even the best need a rest at some time. Just look at Hart at Citeh when he had a drop in form, he was dropped for a while and then came back much stronger.

I agree that just because he's a keeper doesn't absolve him from being dropped based on poor performance. Any other position has that same headache every week and the fight for positions. However, goalkeeper isn't quite the same ideology. So, we drop Begovic for Butland who has less than a handful of games to make a positive impact and stake his place as first choice keeper? It isn't going to happen! We'll destroy the lad's confidence if he gets thrashed when there is talk of us earning 8th place. The business end of the season is not the time to give the lad a little run out, particularly not in the remaining fixtures we have. The keeper coach and Hughesey need to inject some fire into Bego , not least to get the defence to take their flip flops off and put a shift in and sort it out!

Shilton really wasn't that special for us, Asmir has been outstanding, but not this season and certainly not over the past handful of games. I don't know if he will be staying or not, but I still think leaving him out wouldn't do any harm. He must be concerned with his form himself.

Always hard to work out when a keeper should be dropped, especially when they've had long, long runs of being an absolute class act.
But there's not much point in having an England international on the bench, on £1m+-a-year if you're not going to stick him in now. Wasn't there some talk in the Sentinel that Butland would be given 2-3 games in May anyway in preparation for that U-21 tournament?

The problem is Samir thinks he's to comfortable he needs a reality check . We know he is a great keeper, but at least give jack a chance to show him there is good competition and that it's not that easy just to turn up every week!!!!!

Shilton wasn't actually the best keeper. We really needed Peter Osgood at the time. However, Waddo decided to go with the great almighty keeper when we had John Farmer who was excellent
