Right... I come in peace. Genuinely. As I have been subjected to a lot of criticism and plenty of over the top abuse I feel I have the right to reply so here it is. Firstly, I don't deny that as Alderweireld was carried from the field he was applauded by the majority of the crowd, in hindsight I should have clarified this in that blog post. Secondly I shouldn't have worded it so it sounded like all Stoke City fans were jeering him. Of course, as with all clubs it was no doubt a minority. For those two points I certainly regret the ill feeling it has caused. In my defence though, a lot of Stoke fans have labelled me a 'liar' and that is unfair. While Alderweireld was on the ground and even while he was receiving treatment there were jeers and chants of 'cheat'. They were loud enough for me to hear in the away end, so I find it odd that so many are stating categorically that they didn't happen or that is wasn't a decent amount of people. Some Stoke fans have acknowledged that it happened, but very few. Anyway I don't expect you to agree or change your minds, but I don't dodge criticism and will always say my piece and this was easier than replying to all the tweets/blog comments individually. Good luck for the rest of the season. Chris Rann You have been called a liar because that's exactly what you are! I've just watched the whole 10 minutes again...twice (I know I need to get out more!) and quite simply he is NOT booed/jeered as he is being given oxygen or after. He IS booed/jeered after the incident and for a couple of minutes after. Unlike your good self, I'm not self-important/arrogant/sensationalist enough to claim my opinion as fact but I would guess this is due to the same player's quite embarrassing attempt to get Charlie sent off previously. The squeal he let out would have put a 9 year old at a one direction concert to shame! But hey, what's a lie or two if it gets you seen/heard/keyboard warrior status. In our part of the world we reserve a particular word to characters of your ilk...COCK! And you my friend are are a prize one.

Zzzzzzz, who gives a fuck.
When players go down some fans jeer at first until the extent of the injury becomes clear.
This applies to all clubs.
Sour grapes.

You can't see the irony in that piece? I think you are confusing the word 'irony' with 'shite'.

I couldn't personally give a shite whether you like Stoke City or not, though the fact that you have written three separate articles berating our club would suggest an agenda that you stick rigidly to irrespective of the facts. I would direct you to Andy Dunn's independent view of the football club, a far more balanced view of where we are, and what we bring to the Premier League. The link for you is below; www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/britannia-rules-stoke-example-every-5425266 What I really object to is the article itself. I appreciate that the internet gives any halfwit with a keyboard access to share their opinions with the general public, but I cannot understand why any publication would allow themselves to be linked with your opinions. Even this one doesn't go anywhere, it's idle, literally pointless nonsense relying heavily on an opinion of Stoke City formed 7 years ago. From my perspective, I wish we wouldn't give this nonsense the oxygen of publicity. It's crap, ill informed and badly written and I only read it because everyone seemed so angry about it. It's not even overly offensive, it's just shite. My genuine hope it that at some point we stop being so precious as a supporter group and accept the fact that some will never like us and will shoehorn facts into their personal opinion. Let them do it. This barely literate dickhead will write exactly the same nonsense next year now, so let's ensure that we treat it with the contempt and attention it so rightly deserves. None.

I've just realised why Koeman is so insistent that we're "physical" and play "long ball"...
He is still bitter that PSV - under his reign - drew 0-0 here in the 2006 pre-season friendly..! In charge for Stoke that day...?

The wonders of the internet age - one bitter Southampton fan comes up with a fictitious and poorly written stream of bile that's absurdly given oxygen by newsnow or google news- then it goes international .

I thought it was remarkable of the Stoke fans to put on a flute concert to sooth his pain as he lay injured on the ground.........

Anyway I don't expect you to agree or change your minds, but I don't dodge criticism and will always say my piece and this was easier than replying to all the tweets/blog comments individually. Good luck for the rest of the season. Chris Rann Chris, On Saturday after the game, I had a rather heated discussion with yourself over Twitter, in-which you repeatedly labelled me 'part of the problem' and threw a couple of cheap stereotypical insults along with a friend of yours. I tried to explain to you that while there is always a couple of clowns in every football stadium, the majority of Stoke City supporters were very respectful of the potential seriousness of Alderweireld's injury and that I myself heard no booing at the time. You angrily suggested that I was hard of hearing (in not so many words) and called me stupid, for merely not acknowledging your misplaced and probably falsified accusations. I'm no psychologist, but to address a problem, you have to know what the problem is. May I put this to you, am I really 'part of the problem' or is the bigger problem here the despicably deceitful nature of some/ most of your players in a shocking attempt to get the referee on your side? The fact Sadio Mané spent half the game diving and cheating, the fact Nathaniel Clyne was throwing his toys out the pram at every opportunity and harassing the referee, the fact your players were getting more and more desperate using even more histrionics as the game went on and ultimately, the fact one of your players hit the deck squealing like he'd broken his spine, yet it turns out he'll probably be fit enough for next game.... do you not think the bigger problem here is addressing cheats in football? Perhaps if your team hadn't spent the entire game diving and feigning injury, those few who felt it necessary to boo when your man was injured(?) wouldn't have been so keen. I didn't boo, but I was incensed by your players actions all game. Still, I wish luck for the season. Pass on my best wishes to Jack Cork. I hear he's still in intensive care....

Southampton and their short tongued mascot Roy Hodgson can go and royally fuck themselves.
I look forward to seeing the fuckers play Thu/Sun in next year's Europa.

TBH I like Southampton as a club, and I like their fans in general, especially since some of my bestest mates and relatives support the club (my uncle was on the coaching staff for a combined total of over ten years, which included one of their most successful periods). I still like them, even though I am disappointed by the response of Chris Rann and his acolytes, and the distorted view of the game presented by Ronald Koeman. But Koeman was onlly reading the Manager's Handbook (Chapter 1, page 1: if your team lose at The Britannia Stadium, employ the following terms in any particular order to make you and your supporters feel better: ''hard place to come', 'physical', 'long ball', 'direct', 'windy conditions').
Nevertheless, the behaviour of one or two individuals will not colour my view of the whole club or its fans........ .

Half these bell-ends won't have seen Southampton anywhere but the Prem. They certainly won't have experienced a mid week game away at Shrewsbury while it was twatting it down or the Bescott or any such equally depressing place. Don't think for a minute this is just a Southampton problem , watch this space if Bournemouth get promoted. It will be the same mantra, 'Dirty Stoke, Vile Supporters, Shit Hole' while they 'Play the right way' and get lauded by the press. It's just fucking lazy journalism and letting subnormal twats like this particular one have access to a medium that he can spout unadulterated lies when in actual fact he's just spitting his dummy out because they got fuck all on Saturday.

You would think he would take down the article out of the shame and make the Dutch journalists aware of their error, so that they can issue a correction and an apology.
I bet he won't though.

Only problem MD is that would require him to remove his head from his arse and accept that he is a sensationalist liar who is only interested in his own self importance. Never going to happen! Guessing he has a framed picture of his hero Adrian Durham (complete with romantic clouded edges) on his bedside table next to his box of kleenex.
