Talking of Sunderland fans ....did you see all the empty seats at the Stadium of shite yesterday ? ... And I'm not talking about early leavers , at kick off there were 1,000s of empty seats , strange that the win against their deadly rivals last week and the big push for survival hasn't generated a ground swell of sell out crowds or interest. Also after the recent home capitulations against Palace & Villa the fans are almost looking to turn on the players. . They really do seem to be the team that may implode when the pressure is really on and seem destined to sink without a fight , and unlike previous seasons I don't think the Britannia relegation charity ,is open for business this year . Any set of fans will leave if they're 0-4 down at home to either Aston Villa or Palace. Pointing fingers at the crowd is farcical

But thank you for pointing out my opinion is farcical ,even if you've not actually read what my observation was .....

There was probably no more than 5,000 missing, it was still a 42,000+ crowd which is good going...the 5,000 are a certain group who only attend for the matches against Newcastle or the top English sides - not Crystal Palace. I wasn't trying to pull you up at all, sorry if it came across that way

I only read CaptainFishpaste's amusing ramblings on Twatter for Sunderland fans views. He reminds me of a Vale fan, his hatred for 'Castle and Steve Bruce outweigh his love of Sunderland, is that the general way a Sunderland fan works?

I remember him breaking through at Middlesbrough as a tricky little attacking midfielder. Not seen that much of him in the past couple of years but I've always thought he'd be a good player for us.

I have said it countless times on here that the crowd size doesn't show how good a club is and doesn't give any club a right for success.

So now we know the real reason Hughes signed Bardsley. Cattermole is still clearly one of his top targets.

Them two loved to get into trouble when they were both up here, they were like the mischievous pair out on the town...maybe they've grown up now, but they were often in trouble for their antics (especially under PDC)

Im all for signing people who can put themselves about so cattermole ticks most boxes for that. We need more players like this if we are bringing in young foreign lads from abroad

Lee Cattermole offers something we don't already have, so on that front he's more than welcome. Add to it him being a lot better passer of the ball than he's given credit for and his seemingly matured nature, I reckon he'd do really well here.

If we did sign Cattamole and/or Sergi Roberto, what would be your midfield next season?

I think we should be looking for younger players with potential personally!

Fishpaste is hilarious. In August he's genuinely agape that anyone could possibly see anything other than Sunderland winning everything in sight and all their new players being world beaters. Then he very publicly goes through the five stages of grief as it inevitably and rapidly goes to shit. And then immediately starts the process again with the next messiah/poor sod they stick in the manager's chair.

I think we should be looking for younger players with potential personally! he's only 27!! if you want a player in CM to partner Fonzy and someone who can steady the ship in the middle there aren't many younger players that would fit that mould. the ones that age that do have that kind of ability, composure and gravitas on the pitch in that position would be at bigger clubs than us

Too many FM15 players on here He'd be an excellent signing to cover that position .....I'm not quite sure what players they realistically expect us to sign ? I agree. I often wonder who is deemed good enough for us, and more to the point how do we compete with the usual suspects who will be fighting for their signatures? Cattermole could add some bite to our midfield; I don't mind him or Mulumbu who was previously linked.

With you 100% Rob. Hell of a lot better footballer than he gets credit for. I have got a slight concern about his injury record though.
