To clarify, my email was copied in its entirety. As it stated , the club is not saying that a USA Supporters Club can't be formed, but it will not be seen as an official branch at this time.

What's the difference between the USA and China, Ireland, Belgium etc etc etc. Seems like complete and utter bollocks to me......

When you look at the list of countries who DO have Stoke supporters' clubs it does seem odd for the club to take such a blatantly anti USA stance over this matter. Is the fact that relations are thawing rapidly between Cuba and the US likely to produce any change in the club's policy?

I find that an incredible stance to take, we have fans in the US willing to promote Stoke City FC PLC to a massive part of the world with no shotage or possible investors but they say no not yet! my mind boggles.

Frankly I am gob-smacked. But maybe there's a work around. Why couldn't we form a club in one city and then everyone join it? I don't see where it says we have to live in the place where the club is formed. Alternatively, we could just decide to all join one of the exciting city clubs. Not ideal but at least a start. Thoughts?

Thoughts? This sounds to be the way KU. Let's call it the Omaha branch or something. I believe they are thinking they want many clubs in the US but don't understand a much larger organization could be the better beginner, eventually splintering off. Or maybe they don't want to upset existing clubs. Either way it is a bit like putting the cart before the horse.

Does anyone think a letter or Email to the Sentinel would help? Maybe they could publish a story of how the club are neglecting to recognise a USA supporters Branch! The last thing that the club would want is the Newspaper printing negative things about the club. Just a thought!

I'll be there this summer in Chicago, St Louis, and Indianapolis.

Ok lads, Just heard back from Angela: Hi I spoke with Adrian yesterday and official clubs will continue to be formed using the current criteria. Unofficial clubs of course can be organised in the way that the founders consider appropriate. Best wishes Regards So basically the club has no interest in us or our support as a North American entity. As much as I feel like dropping a bollocks in the sink over this (as if I was on an away day at the Bolyen Ground) I am going to refrain from getting any more emotionally involved. Love is a two way street so since the club doesn't love us .... Finish that previous sentence as you wish, I am done. I am done neglecting my family for Stoke and dropping a hefty wedge at the club shop every year. It has been great getting to know some of you over the years and if you are ever in Tampa let me know and I'll buy you lot a pint or two at my local. Peace out. Come on Sean I hope youre not jacking it all in ...Vis Unita Fortior n all that !!!

The club's view is that other branches have been formed in the USA prior to this request for a USA branch. They feel that it would dilute these if a USA branch was formed now. China, Bermuda and Seychelles were formed before any branch was requested in those respective countries.

Bayern you can bugger off! Not your responsibility, of course, but is there any barrier to someone setting up a Canadian Branch? Do they have any existing city branches whose feet would be trodden on by a Canadian Branch?

Bayern you can bugger off! That's great - good job. Count me in! I used to be on the faculty at the University of Florida, so I am part Gator and part Jayhawk. Edit: Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Not sure if you were aware, but there was some American university at the Stoke/baggies game. There were about 20 of them prancing round the pitch with a huge stars & stripes at half time. Ironically, there was also a Japanese Uni doing the same, but they didn't have a massive rising sun flag or ot may have got a bit Pearl Harbour. I'd have loved to watch that for a spot of half time entertainment
