That looks gruesome If anyone missed the incident That's grim. You can actually see his stud get caught in his leg for a split second. I honestly don't know how or why he carried on playing for another 10 minutes or so.

With the force he comes down and the angle of his foot I'll have to disagree with you there mate, I think he knows exactly what he is doing. Agree 100% Agreed the SOB knew quite well what he was doing!!

His foot movement after he kicks the ball is so unnatural, he knew exactly what he was doing.

We won. Move on, we're not Arsenal. You are missing the point by a country mile, no doubt that Prem officiating is getting worse, I am sick of every game being overseen by incompetent idiots, there are better officials out there I know it. Where is Sian Massey when you need her, best liner we have had in recent years!! No, I'm not - Ireland put a bad tackle of his own in, he got one back. A week or two and he'll be back.

Ok so we accept that refs and liners are going to miss critical incidents and allow players to be sliced in two if necessary. That's fine. Bit like the old gladiatorial days. Not for me thanks. The standard of Prem officiating needs sorting out not only to improve the spectacle but to protect the players too. In my view it is getting worse as the game intensity increases. Younger, fitter refs are required and quickly. I bet my house there are many knocking on the FA door, but for whatever reason the 'old reliables' keep getting rolled out to screw the simple game of football up.

Nowhere near as bad as the one he got done by. Irelands tackle was 50/50 and I can't see what the fuss about. The one he got done by is shocking.

Not red for me, bad injury but that shouldn't affect what card it is.

Not going to bother arguing, this is reading like an Arsenal board. It's embarrassing, so I'll leave it at that and hope the thread dies.

Not going to bother arguing, this is reading like an Arsenal board. It's embarrassing, so I'll leave it at that and hope the thread dies. Not at all. Arse fans moaned like drains when a player cleared an open ball and another player unfortunately broke his leg going for the same ball. There were two or three bad challenges by Hull players yesterday. The one on Moses from behind was a booking, the one on Pieters was definitely one and the Ireland one is a particularly nasty tackle that was over the ball with studs showing. Then you look at how Moses and Pieters received yellow cards for nothing and you get an idea of why folk might be a tad annoyed.

I'm watching the replay and I really don't see how its over the ball, he smashes it away and the because of that he carries on into Ireland, its a yellow card all day long for me.

Sorry by over the ball I mean he's high (hence the injury to Ireland's calf) and he's definitely out of control. That's the line that we have been on the end of numerous times which my reference to the goose is taken from.

I don't think its much difference to what happened at Chelsea/Burnley, forget who made the challenge, and I don't think that was a red either tbh, maybe I just need to re evaluate what a red card challenge is these days.

The size and gruesomeness of the gash just proves that no attempt was made to pull back from hitting Ireland, imagine the amount of force that it would take to open a wound like that on someones leg with a blunt stud

It's not a stud though is it, surely it is down to the blade like boot. Didn't Rooney get one as well? This thread is getting a bit much now.

Totally unnecessary and unnatural to lift his leg that high after clearing a ball on the floor. The liner was 5-6 yards away and completely bottled the decision, much as he did all afternoon. Definitely a yellow and some refs would deem it red as intentional and over aggressive.

There is a picture of the cut on the sentidull website, real nasty challenge and an even worse injury of which will keep him out for at least a month, the player SHOULD be banned for 3 games as he knew exactly what he was doing!

So, if Shawcross was sent off due to the severity of Ramsey's injury five years back, I trust there will be a retrospective ban for Figueroa given the nature of Ireland's injury.
Will there fuck be a retrospective ban.

I am quite concerned about what permanent damage might be done to Stephen. Will his leg fully recover, what mental scar will he suffer. I think Rooney has not been the same player since his severe laceration that kept him out for months.
