Haha funny coincidence Studied Physics at Aber and we used to book the astroturf for a kickabout once a week. One time we had a friendly against geography and there was 2 hospital cases, one on each side second one was a lad with a gash above his eye. My best goal was on that astroturf, attack and defence using one goal. A defender whacked a clearance all the way to the other end and while someone went to get it I went to the bench by the halfway line to get a drink. By then the lad gets the ball boots it up the pitch it drops over my right shoulder scissors volley 2 foot off the floor by half way line just inside right touchline. Jammyly hit sweet spot for once, flattish trajectory went in just under the bar. No one seemed to particularly notice and the goalie didn't bother to save it cos he was chatting to someone I think. Few years before that I played a whole season for Penrhyn-coch 3rds and didn't score a single goal. We finished bottom of the league. Mind you I did a goal line clearance in our only win Ha Penrhyn-coch hey?! Which years was this? I played for a long time for Llanrustydd and a stint at Penparcau. Ha Llanrustydd hey they used to leave the grass six inches long so you couldnt get the ball down, and they were all massive! They hammered us about 8 nil their pitch seemed to be on the edge of a cliff by the sea... Remember playing Penparcau on the old park that's sadly now a roundabout, we did quite well, a narrow 3-1 defeat if I remember right. 89/90 i think, but could have been the year before or after.

Sunday morning on a rain soaked pitch, muddy as hell, was in the 70's,I received ball on half way, left wing position, took the ball past four oppo's and arrived to the left corner of penalty area, cut inside and hit the sweetest right footed shot of my life into keepers top left hand corner of the onion bag. Must say special to me because it was a bit of a grudge match as both sides battling at the top of league and even their supporters applauded, was on their patch too.oh the joy of that moment will live with me forever.

LONG LONG TIME AGO -IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY --
Easy to recall actually and true - for Cantilever youth away at Westleigh Rangers in Warrington U18s league (top six clash)
Free kick to us about ten yards out side the opposing area --wall lines up in/around the 'D' - I stand on the end of the wall - wink to my mate Dave Gill taking free kick
As he runs up and chips it over the wall it - I nip off the end of the wall, running backwards to between the back of the wall and the penalty spot
ball goes over wall onto my chest - still facing away form goal I go 'chest trap onto knee, without the ball even touching the floor -swivel and 'ROOF it' top left
hand corner with my trusted left foot
goalie never even moves
total and utter silence from the supporters
then applause - even form the oppositions mob - perhaps one in a thousand
one I will never forget

Playing for 293 Postal & Courier unit Sunday league in Rheindahlen Garrison. Our keeper hoofed out a goal kick to the half-way line area. I got up to it in front of George Gray the opposition centre half and back-headed the ball (and George) directing the ball out behind their left full back for our right winger to run on to. George Gray was poleaxed but I turned, sprinted up field and just as our winger hit a hard low cross, I flung myself forward for a diving bullet header from 18 yards and scored. However, I did not see the ball go in because I landed awkwardly and ko'd myself in the process! I recovered and we won 6-2 on that lovely muddy Sunday lunch time back in the 60s. Sweet memories. I recall our "coach" was an Irishman called O'Toole who thereafter was forever calling me a stupid tw(i)t for nearly breaking my neck when we were already 5-2 up!!

I was just the consequence of a passionate night in Penkhull back in that time, sorry to make your feel old there! I played in the late 2000's up until a couple of years back.
