The best result we could have hoped for!
Keep your fingers crossed for draws whenever the top half clubs play one another except for the Norwich games when, as we can't catch them, we might as well hope they keep on winning - except when they play us of course! ;D

what do you mean we can't catch Norwich.......it is still mathematically possible.....so WE CAN STILL CATCH THEM....... stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/runin.htmlcheck out link highest possible finish is still #1 highest possible points is 86 ... Norwich only have 67 Come on we could be champions still, and I will cling to that dream till its gone

Dave, you are of course technically correct. However, as I rate our chances of catching Norwich as being so small as to be negligible, I would much prefer for them to carry on winning against the top table sides (as they did against Ipswich the other day) to make our progress easier. Apart from when they play us obviously. To be honest I wouldn't worry if WBA went on a similar winning streak for the same reason.

I would of the sides above us .. we have to play all of them...bar 2 wigan & millwall so wigan can win all their games as far as I'm concerned, and get 2nd spot ... would suit me

Dave, my advice (you mean you didn't ask for it?) is not to pin too many hopes on the idea of catching Norwich.

Love the fact that we now look for teams of their calibre's results. I cheered in the car hearing the result! Such a contrast with this time last year!
We all know the relegation calculator, but is there a promotion version for us to plot Stoke's promotion route??

Coool, I thought this finished 3-2, must have kicked off slightly later that the CL.
As I said yesterday, about 50% of the games left will involve teams above us playing each other based on the amount of sides chasing the play off places.
As long as we steadily pick up points those above us will take points off each other until the end of the season.
A result ar Reading is vital IMHO.

Excellent results all round from the weekend and last night! Looking at the results I think almost every single one that effects us went in our favour ( bar west ham tue)! all teams above either losing or drawing!
Wednesday 10th March 2004 Nationwide League Division 1 Sunderland 3 - 3 Preston
Tuesday 9th March 2004 Nationwide League Division 1 Bradford 2 - 0 Watford West Ham 5 - 0 Wimbledon
Sunday 7th March 2004 Nationwide League Division 1 Norwich 3 - 1 Ipswich
Saturday 6th March 2004 Nationwide League Division 1 Burnley 1 - 1 Preston Crystal Palace 2 - 2 Reading Gillingham 2 - 1 Nottingham Forest Rotherham 1 - 2 Bradford Stoke 3 - 1 Watford West Brom 3 - 0 Coventry West Ham 0 - 0 Walsall Wigan 2 - 3 Crewe
With game in hand on most directley above us, could put us in 8th place!

I'm going with the 'Tony Pulis' method of thinking and I'm not even allowing myself to dream that we'll get in the play-offs yet. Don't get me wrong, I'll be the first one to go fucking mental if we do it, but for now I'm just enjoying this run while it lasts.
If we come out of March having showed good form, say 8 points out of 12, then I may dare to dream ;D ;D ;D ;D

RRP, there are 7 fixtures in March with the Crewe fixture having been rearranged for later this month - so 5 fixtures to go. With the majority (4) being away from home, 7 or 8 points would be a good return plus the 6 points we already have. That would make 13/14 points (out of a possible 21) for the month which would leave us "on course" considering it is the hardest 7 game run we would have had all season.

we'll make it, providing we get 7 points from the next games. and as for sunderland, a 3-3 draw is quite a tire ing game, they had one on sunday aswell agians sheff utd
i forget who they play on saturday, but its a hard game for them, theyre playing a good team (i think) so by tuesday the players will be fucked, so its 3 points fo us there
