its an absolute nothing comment. Tone said the same thing to keep things quiet.
Also hes hardly going to say - yeah we need a centre-half cuz I dont trust Wilson/Cameron/Muniesa/Huth/Texeira is he? Not great for building players confidence

Nobody can argue our spending spree days appear to be over for now judging on the past 5 or 6 windows.

I feel sorry for the Pizza shop owners of Trent Vale. You've got it all wrong, mate. Surely it's good news for them as TS and Carto only order pizza when we DON'T make any signings?

Maybe this is the club demonstrating to other teams that we don't have the funds to do deals like we did under Pulis, and maybe it'll mean we can get better value in the transfer market. If Hughes comes out and says 'we're desperate for a striker and a CB' then we'll be held to ransom again. Just a thought, like.

I don't believe a word of it.
You don't broadcast to agents you intend splashing the cash, or disclose your intent to the competition. My guess is they are secretly working on potential deals and if things fall into place, like Bojan, they could spring a surprise. It will not help the club cause though, by loads of fans on Oatcake flying kites on potential signings.
If it is true, it does not overly concern me, although it would be nice to have a regular goal scorer. Stoke's main problems (soft goals conceded and poor use of set piece opportunities) can be fixed by better teamwork from effective training and coaching, not necessarily by the cheque book.

They dont seem willing to allow Hughes any money since hes come Could possibly be down to the £30 million deficit left by Pulis, the £100 million spent on players on long contracts with no or very little resale value, in short without a change in manager and direction it would have been unsustainable to carry on as we were.

Hardly a surprise really, we already knew the club wanted to be self sufficient and the best way to that is to spend less on players.

Says Mark Hughes in this mornings sentinel When will certain people on here see the fantastic job he's doing on a shoestring budget ? Are you working for the Daily Mail ? He says no major expenditure not major signings,a completely different kettle of fish. Eh.....Aren't they virtually the same thing ?

Why have the Coates family tightened their purse strings so much ???? They dont seem willing to allow Hughes any money since hes come That's why he's here! The so called research into the new manager 'the family' did was to find someone who could keep Stoke in 'The Prem' without spending £20m a season like El Capo. Hughes' contacts with the big clubs and overseas ticked the boxes for cheap deals including loans. At least, today people finally can see that 'the family' will spend nowt on the team but keep splashing the dosh on Claytonwood.

What do you expect him to say.
Yeh we're in desperate need of this that and the other and there's plenty of cash available.
That'll drive the price right up!!

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Last thing he would need to do was to announce we wanted a big signing and we have plenty of money to throw at one.

Its hardly been any different since he arrived at the club so why would he be lying?

We shall see. If by Jan, as is a very real possibility, we are in or around the bottom 3 then it will be tantamount to the owners saying 'weve given up with this Premier League lark' if they dont spend any money. Then they will have to write of an awful lot of income to stick to the 'self financing' pipe dream. An interesting choice for them - potentially a lot of grief for us.

Well we all know what Tone would / did do in these circumstances Bypass Ms Dildo and The Boy and go straight to Peter? you should be ashamed of yourself with that statement. I dread to think where we would be now if the coates family had not come in and brought the club.perhaps you enjoy the local derbies in the 3rd division, yes they were good but the other 40 odd games were utter dogshit. no manager comes out and identifies his targets its common sense and we have this thread before every transfer window.

Eh.....Aren't they virtually the same thing ? If sales exceed purchase, expenditure is negative. ...Or even signing a top player for cheap if his contract expires in the summer. That constitutes some expenditure, but isn't 'major'. Or we loan someone? (by sending Assaidi back if necessary).
