I recall that we had Harry Dowd (yet another keeper) on loan from Manchester City in the 1969-70 season. He made 3 appearances whilst Gordon Banks was injured. We drew against Spurs and Manyoo and beat Burnley; so that's one for the "Best" column

That was Joe Jordan's BIGGEST wrong doing, even to this day I'll never understand that move??? Vince had a lot of power in the dressing room and fell out with Jordan didn't he? He was also very much a Macari man and I think "Jaws" was probably (and ultimately unsuccessfully) trying to put his stamp on the team. Managers have always done that sort of thing down the years, and to a degree I can appreciate it......but John Clarke for Vince Overson....c'mon !!!

Yeah, the flaw in Jordan's plan was that Clark was without any doubt, a steaming pile of horse shit and about two stone overweight.

Lee Martin occasionally looked useful but very lightweight. Who was the Norwegian lad we had on loan from Arsenal, think it was during Pulis' first spell? Seem to remember him making no impact whatsoever.
Lee Mills was also pretty wank although scored a couple of belters.
