He has the ability to be a top top player but he players it safe 99% of the time and until he starts to drive things forward and make things happen then he will never realise his potential - been saying for a while that he is a big part of our problem when he works the ball at a pedestrian pace and unless he changes this we need to replace him with better. I guess he has until January to show he can change and if he doesn't then LMH needs to make that change IMO.

Hasn't had a great game but we can't bench him as there is no alternative. He wasted our one opportunity to break past Southampton , turning the ball back with four players breaking. Sidwell?

Nzonzi was more sideways and backwards than most matches. The opponent was better than most aswell. He was the biggest letdown for us, he was so far forward first half Adam was next to Geoff. Second half he was in the hole and we were better. He had it a few times going forward and had 3 or 4 running infront of him and cocked up the counters but nobody could say he was the worst today after adams crap performance of course. We played 4-3-3 in the first half and 4-4-2 in the second. We didn't play with a player in the 'hole' at all. He was several times covering with Cameron as to who pressed forward and when dioufs pace came on, Cameron sat back and so did Nzonzi and we were a better side instantly. We changed the formation to the pressure on the fly, Bardsley and pieters both actually passed the half line after the sub.

Sidwell obviously isn't going to play, and I don't think his performances warrant it.

The criticism of Nzonzi is more about what might have been, rather than the fact he has had a particularly bad game, he plays too safe all the time.

Don't agree at all,was our best midfielder today. I'm not quite sure what people want from a midfielder. I'd like a midfielder of his type to score a few goals (or even be able to shoot), tackle, set up chances and pass the ball forward. He does none of these things. And saying that he holds the ball well is the thing that's holding us back so often in games. I think he needs to up his game with regards to scoring goals. He does give us lots of energy and wins a lot of possession for us and I think this is overlooked.Today he played a lovely forward ball to Moses who had made a good run,and he got in our only shot on target as a result. He doesn't always see the offensive pass but there was a lack of quality today in the final third, with regard to players making good runs and making the right decisions eg. Arnie shooting when he should have passed,Ossie passing instead of shooting

I didn't mention anything about sideways. He along with Cameron, Crouch and Walters I felt were our worst players today. Just my opinion. Adam had his worst game in a Stoke shirt today. Adam played so badly i forgot he even played. Include him in my list

Adam was far off the pace. Gave the free kick away for their goal also.

We lose all pace when Nzonzi picks up the ball. He needs to be dropped.

God watched the first half again just Adam looks like he has the pace of a 50 year old in some instances.

The worrying thing is that it's not just N'Zonzi though is it?.
If we're being honest we've looked pedestrian for virtually all of this season and being just that we've been pretty poor really.

He could slow down Usain Bolt on Concord. He has the risk reward approach of an octogenarian on a moderate pension.

So who was, Adam that did sod all for every second he was on or Cameron who was out of position most of the game, they got easily outplayed at least N'Zonzi tried to create something (sometimes not pulling it off granted), he went forward as much as he did sideways. I didn't mention anything about sideways. He along with Cameron, Crouch and Walters I felt were our worst players today. Just my opinion. I thought Cameron was ok today, actually. Are we in some bizarre reverse universe?

God watched the first half again just Adam looks like he has the pace of a 50 year old in some instances. Hughes has just been on th'wireless saying Charlie received a knock in the first half, his leg 'blew up', said it looks like he's ruptured a blood vessel. He tried to continue in the second half but was struggling. {Hughes said he was thinking of a tactical change anyway.} Another injury is obviously bad news, but a better justification than Charlie just didn't fancy it.

I noticed that the sideways N'Zonzi pass that drew the most ire came shortly after he'd messed up a dinked pass over the top to play in Diouf. I don't think those two things are unrelated.

Are we in some bizarre reverse universe? I can't decide whether he played ok or not. On the one hand, I felt he played possession well, intercepted well, did some really good things but there were a few times I was screaming at the tv for him to get back into position. I don't know. I still think he needs to start next game there. He is the most logical option.

All the talent in the world. Genuinely effects two maybe three games a season in any real tangible way.
A tragic waste really. Never play for a 'big club' in a month of Saturday's.

Sigh I'd love to disagree but sadly thats him to a t. He just doesn't seem to have found the drive or anger. Sad really. I see it in Adam, Geoff and Arnie but none have the skill of nzonzi on the ball and the ability to change direction on a dime at pace or fool his man. He's like a gazelle running from cheetahs always. Once ina while he flips the coin but as you said its rare.

N'Zonzi has long been the problem whilst we're trying to be dynamic in moving up the field.
The same player who people were saying 'would get in Arsenal's midfield' when he arrived has developed into a technically-gifted, has everything midfielder that actually offers very little, and often stalls our possession with a way over-cautious approach.

Charlie barely got a kick, he was closed down quickly as were most, but he was playing too deep. Shud have hooked Nzonzi and got Adam further forward.

Poor again today I thought. Yet again too slow in possession, gave the ball away, never ever looked like creating anything. I just don't see what he is offering us at the moment and we looked totally bereft of ideas in midfield today. Did we have a shot? Disappointing. He's probably our most accomplished midfielder. I just wished he'd got a more positive attitude rather than taking the "safety first" route 9 times out of 10.
