If Hodgson has Ryan even remotely in his thoughts then he surely would have been in Stoke on Monday night. He wasn't and that is newsworthy. I agree that there are too many 'Shawcross for England' threads - but on this occasion (especially with the injuries England now have at centre half) it is probably merited. He could have taken a look at how deadly his new red-headed midfielder from Newcastle was from 5 yards too.

If he picks Caulker ahead of him to pad out the centre-halves, things have gone very wrong somewhere.
But he probably will.

If Man City game had been last weekend I would guarantee you that Ryan would be picked in this squad.

Good news everyone! I've checked and it turns out that if you're not particularly keen on the contents of a thread and you don't want to open it, then you're under no obligation to open it up and look at all the posts that you don't like.
The better news is that that's especially true on days when those threads are relevant because, say, the subject of the thread relates to something that's going to be announced this afternoon!

I really dont get it at all. He is a wonderful centre half, theres not many better than him in the league. For me hes in the top 3 of CB's. I would say only Terry/Kompany are infront. ...and Hodgson moaning his arse off about not having leaders our on the pitch, Ryan's captaincy/leadership skills would be a massive bonus surely? Agreed. I think him and Cahill would be agreat pairing also.

ExpressHodgson, who has calculated he has just 80 days with his squad before Euro 2016 begins, is poised to call-up Kieran Gibbs and Adam Lallana after they missed out last time due to injury.
Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are injured and QPR's Steven Caulker or Ryan Shawcross could be considered. If he can't get into a weak centre-half pool with Jones and Smalling injured, he may as well give up.

At the moment England have the weakest group of players I can remember, if Ryan doesn't get in now he never will,

You do wonder if Woy's wabbit out of the hat may be the bemusing fast-twacking of the dodgy-looking Tywer Bwackett.
It's the kind of thing he'd do.

and every other fucking day then someone has some tenuous excuse as to why it's valid then as well OK. Let's not discuss things related to Stoke City on this message board when they're in the news because they have been discussed before then? Or, if you're not interested in discussing this again, then just don't open the thread? but nothing in the news here IS related to Stoke City is it? i haven't seen any news articles with headlines like "Shawcross not picked for England squad exclusive!" or "Why hasn't Hodgson visited the Brit?" unless we're going to say that someone who plays for Stoke NOT being in the news is now news for Stoke fans because he SHOULD be in the news????? that's what i mean by tenuous! i'm off to start a thread entitled "Why wasn't the Brit even considered for the Final of Euro 2020?"

How would the MB cope with that you'd probably have the same people who are insisting on him being in the squad now telling us how they wished he hadn't been picked because Woy's a wanker and the england team are all shit who they hope lose every game

To be fair, most of us moan on here about Ryan not getting in the squad but what difference does it make? It reminds of this scene from Liar Liar where Jim Carreys car gets scratched. Except exchanging the scratch for Ryan being unfairly overlooked.
