Newcastles delusuon of grandeur will mean that they Attack us like a 'top team' would. Can't see them sitting in at little old Stoke.

Beggo Bards - Ryan - Huth - Eric N'Zonzi - Muniesa Moses - Adam - Assaidi Crouch Why would you leave Whelan out and play Muniesa out of position? And also our top scorer? With only 1 striker position available I'd give it to Crouch. He's infinitely better at holding up the ball and controlling high passes than Diouf, as was evident from Dioufs game yesterday. As for Muni, I'd like to give him a game but not at the expense of Eric, or N'Zonzi...so I didn't have much option. Though I suppose I could add him in there in place of Adam and then include Whelan. Paul. This is my time, not a prediction of what team I think will play.

Begovic Bardsley Shawcross Huth Muniesa Nzonzi Whelan Moses Diouf Assaidi Crouch I'd like to this this team but then again we need Adam on the pitch imo, its a toss up between him with Diouf out wide or Assaidi with Diouf behind Crouch I agree. I originally had Adam in but dropped Whelan, which doesn't seem right. I wouldn't drop Nzonzi either. I've gone for pure pace across all 3 positions behind Crouch.

Huth i still think is off the pace, Pieters has done nothing wrong to be dropped. Ireland is the best player we have playing in the whole and linking up play. The bit I don't get is how you can say that Huth looks off the pace but Ireland doesn't? Huth put in a much better performance than Ireland last night, who I actually thought looked more off the pace than anybody. Huth hasn't played a premier league game for about 8 months.. Ah let's throw him in a game we desperately need to win.

Bego Bardsley Ryan Huth Muniesa Whelan N'Zonzi Diouf Moses Assaidi Crouch The three behind Crouch can rotate as we see fit. Ireland doesn't seem ready to start in the league yet and I think Moses could be excellent behind the forward. To be honest, I'd like to start Assaidi but he has to play on the left, but Moses will (and should) start there, Diouf has to play up top, but that will be Crouchie. So, if not up top, Diouf should be out wide, as he's not suited to playing 'in the hole'. That means that Assaidi can't really start at the moment without dropping someone who doesn't really deserve to be dropped. I know what you mean but in truth nobody has really nailed down the central position in the three behind the forward which is why I opted for Moses to play there. Ireland appears to be Hughes's preferred option but I don't think he's fit enough after his injury. I like both Charlie and Bojan but not sure they've done enough of late to get that shirt.

Kind of is yeah, asking me why i wouldn't start Huth or Muniesa but would start Ireland.. If you wouldn't start him either then what a pointless conversation this has been.

If you wouldn't start him either then what a pointless conversation this has been. This is my last try ... My POINT is that you said you wouldn't start a player (Huth) because he looked off the pace but then at the same time completely ignore your criteria of not picking players who look off the pace by picking Ireland. I don't get why you have one rule for one player but not for another?

I think we need Adam to play at home because he will have some shots and try to score. Muniesa goes in for me after his performance yesterday. Hopefully we can get our first home win of the season!

Why is everyone including Huth all of a sudden? He was at fault for Sunderland goal. Wasn't all that impressive to me.

Really do have too much depth now. It's getting difficult to pick a side with so many options available. Ok, I'm cancelling my previous selection and going with this one (4-4-2) Beggo Bards - Huth - Ryan - Muni Moses - N'Zonzi - Whelan - Assaidi Crouch - Bojan Subs: Butland, Wilson, Eric, Adam, Ireland, Arnie, Diouf

We should be looking to win all games and he has to come back sometime. He got done twice, once for the goal (good finish though) and later on where he had to drag the player down, against a better striker it'll be worse, he still needs more time.

I think it was definitely by design Rich. Whelan was sitting in front of the centre backs and N'Zonzi and Adam were playing side by side. We didn't play with a man in the 'hole'. Although Crouch did get a bit isolated at times, Diouf''s almost bionic work rate meant he could cover the right flank and also get close to Crouch in the box. I certainly think it's worth persevering with.

With Wilson at CB, time isn't a luxury we can afford. So what if Huth makes a cynical challenge (the second one you mention). Most defenders get turned get done at least once per match. I thought he did well there to stop him tbh. I'm actually more concerned about Ryans persistent grappling. Huth, like Ryan, is also a leader, and I prefer to have him vocal in the backline in support of Ryan. For their goal, it was a good finish and I'm not so critical of it being down to a defensive error.

Bardo needs a rest having played mid-week We're playing on Monday. So that's 6 days rest. He's played every minute of each game and will have a tough few days in training before Monday, Wilko should get a bit of game time, we're playing Newcastle fgs we'll beat them with the U16s the way they're going.

He's tried Adam and Bojan, both of whom didn't really work. I still think if he has his ideal XI available 4231 would be Hughes's system.
