How is that the best possible team? Wilson better than Huth? Diouf a winger? Assaidi better than Arnie and Moses? Wilson has been good enough - our problems are not defensive, are they? Huth is probably a better defender but I like Wilson and he is not the reason we aren't breaking teams down. Diouf as a winger - yes and no. I would do what we did against Man City and play him wide right but tell him to tuck in alongside Crouchy when possible. This allows your left winger to drift much wider and become more of an outlet as well. He basically played right wing at City though. Assaidi is the best fit for the team I would play. As I said above, Diouf would be given specific instructions (as he was against City it seems) to 'tuck in' and support Crouch when possible, which means we need maximum width and trickery on the left. Assaidi is the perfect player for this because he provides the right balance in the sense that he can either get his head down and swing a ball in or cut inside and really hurt you. I also like Assaidi as a player so he is personal preference. I guess my point is, some players may not be naturally as good as ones I wouldn't play but, a good football team is not just about having good footballers. We have a massive squad and it's important we find our sweet spot sooner rather than later, otherwise we are going to be in for a long season, again. Diouf didn't play as a winger against Citeh.

He didn't play that exact position, no, but he covered an awful lot of ground on that side of the pitch and often popped up there. Our actual right winger on the day was basically a wing-back - even when Wingie came on. There was some interchanging going on too. I wouldn't actually play him as an out-and-out winger anyway.

"Personally I think it will be a top notch performance against Stoke on Saturday and I think we will win convincingly. I do fear for us against the big sides though, we look so fragile at the back at times, particularly if the opposition have a bit of pace and are prepared to run at us!"

I don't think 4-2-3-1 suits the players we've got, both Crouch and Diouf prefer to play and are more effective when played in a front '2'. I'd play Liverpool's system, a 4-3-1-2 diamond, with Moses playing the 'Sterling' role, having licence to roam - being able to turn up on either flank at will. Begovic Bardsley Shawcross Wilson Pieters Whelan N'Zonzi Adam Moses Crouch Diouf Liverpool play more of a 433 these days.

Walters the major doubt, Ireland back in for selection and Assaidi pushing for a start.
Would anyone start Assaidi and Ireland?

I'd be more inclined to start Adam at home than away. When we are on top and faced with a packed defence, he could really contribute with his shots at goal and defence splitting passes, whereas away from home where we are likely to need to dig in a bit more, defend and hit the opposition fast on the break, he is surely of less use?

Adam needs to play. Although I feel Bojan might have more joy away too.

Now i've heard the injury news, i hope the team looks more like:
Begovic Bardo Ryan Wilson Pieters Zonz whelo Moses Ireland Assaidi Diouf
I think Ireland will add more pace to our breaks. If the game gets scrappy and tight I'd bring Adam on.

Spot on, Hancock! Moses and Crouch will combine like Crouch and Jerome did in Tone's last trip to QPR for us. We can beat this shower of shit with our eyes closed. Pace and guile will be the key for us. I think we will win at a canter.

And Huth at the heart of the defence, too. I just noticed that. Solid at the back, pace up front; we will destroy them with your formation, Tony Hancock!

I'm spite of my username, crouch should be on the bench tomorrow. Against Man City, he was there to do a job but QPR requires different tactics as we will have more of the ball.
Begovic Bardsley Shawcross Huth Pieters Whelan Nzonzi Moses Ireland Assaidi Diouf
Subs Sorensen, Muniesa, Wilson, Bojan, Adam, Arnautovic, Crouch
If Arnie doesn't make it, will Shenton make the bench? Or Palacios?

Begovic Bardsley Shawcross Huth Pieters N'Zonzi Whelan Adam Moses Diouf Assaidi We need the solidarity of Huth at the back and adam shooting ability back in the team while using pace to counter attack well with that front 3!

We have to win this one for Sparky! Hope Ryan rallies the players tomorrow and the players have got the mantra "let's do this for the gaffer." It's surely up to Hughes to win the game isn't it by picking his best team? No one can complain with the players effort last Saturday they just weren't good enough. Hughes needs to start playing his best players and stop shooting himself in the foot with naive substitutions.
