That's a big shame for their fans to be honest.
I know most big clubs look down on the competition and when they were talking about Celtic going into it on the radio the way they were speaking as if it was almost beneath them but I would love to do it again. Some of the home games, particularly Besiktas and Hajduk were amazing with their fans and I was lucky enough to go to Kiev and Valencia. It would be amazing if we could acheive it again and I genuinely don't think it would be considered anythign other than a massive acheivement by the fans or the management.
The Europa League is an excellent competition as it stands.

The Europa League is fantastic if your club is not only in it but your club and fans embrace being in it. For example ourselves, Fulham, Swansea City & Hull City.
I personally find that when we're not in it* which is every year other than 2011/12 season, i never watch it and can't get excited by it at all. I didn't even know there were matches on tonight until i saw this thread to be honest.
The crap thing about it is that Champions League sides who get knocked out of that competition automatically go into The Europa League.
I'm sorry but that's pure bollocks. Imagine Man City getting knocked out of the FA Cup 3rd Round and then get automatically placed into the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final, just to give them summat to win even though they don't want to be in it. To hell with all the clubs, some of which may have played a dozen games to get to that stage of the competition already. Crap analogy i know but sod it.
*I mean The Europa League in it's current format, not the UEFA Cup 1972/73

Dickie has called time on Hull brief innings. Back to the pavilion they go. Steve Bruce doesn't like the decision on the balcony but he's OUT alright: He looks like a molested potato

Ah, football snobbery? Football is football, I've watched footy in Slovenia, Czech Republic, some great games and atmospheres. Also been to see Inter Milan v Newcastle a few years ago, a great few days away.

The solution to give the Europa League it's glamour back & persuade sides it's a competition you want to be in is simple.
They need to firstly change it back to a straight knock-out competition played over two legs until the final and simply move the games to Tuesday & Wednesday nights on alternate weeks to the Champions League.
This would give the competition it's own focus from sponsor and the media and stop it being overshadowed by the champions league. Changing it to a straight knockout reduces the number of games and travelling for sides who aren't as well stocked as the bigger sides that compete in the champions league.
Over to you Uefa!

It would have been ace if Hull could have had a run.

The ref had a mare but Hull were very poor against an average side. Shame for their fans as Bruce did a Pulis v Valencia in the first leg and sent a below par team.

How is it football snobbery? I bet most on this board don't even bother to turn the europa league on. People aren't interested in nothing teams from the four corners of Europe, that's why there is such fuss over the champions league.
