Amazing day - and what a great turn around after Lords.
But - there are still issues to sort. A victory does not mean everything is perfect or cannot be improved.
Thanks to India's astonishing capitulation our selection error of not having so third seamer was not exposed. This needs fixing next time round. Don't change a winning side is a stupid, lazy mantra. The other problem is Cook's opening partner. What to do? I think I'd take a punt in the last test and pick Hales.
But - plenty of positives to dwell on.
The batting looks solid - Bell back in form, a Root excelling and Ballance looking assured. Butler looks like he has the batting part of the wicket-keeper batsmen sorted and is improving on the keeping dude. Anderson and Broad look back to their best and we have plenty of options for the #8 batsmen / 4th seamer position!
And Cooks captaincy, which we are going to be stuck with, can only improve with positive experiences like today's.
Bring on the Oval

Thsnk goodness India put up such a spineless performance yesterday. Even if they'd have made it with just a couple of wickets to spare they'd have got a draw, it's literally monsooned ot down all day in Manchester and the pitch will be under a foot of water...

I knew it would be ....I guess that would have pretty much ruled out Monday as well regardless of what other weather may be on the way ?

That's the first time England have won a Test within three days for 47 years ....way back in 1967 A small correction needed here Bish; first test against India won in three days since 1967. England beat Bangladesh in 2010 and the West Indies in 2009 inside three days. There may be more - but not against India!

Yes I stand corrected .....and thinking back I remember that West Indies game now I will exact retribution shortly ...
