Hopefully they'll accept, it's a fair fee.

Wonder if we've completely given up on Assaidi now?
It'll be interesting to see if Norwich accept the £5m.

Redmond a smoke screen for Assaidi? Assaidi a smoke screen for Yarmolenko? Yarmolenko a smoke screen for SJW parading down the wing again?! I'm all too confused.

£5m + Jerome might do it?

Could we realistically hope to accommodate Redmond and Yarmolenko in addition to all the other options here?
Even if it's just Redmond, it's hard to see him starting much

Wonder if we've completely given up on Assaidi now? It'll be interesting to see if Norwich accept the £5m. Watching him play yesterday it's a more than fair bid, but in the bonkers, inflated world of English football, I don't think the bid will be accepted. Maybe later in the month if the player starts to kick up a fuss?

Even if it's just Redmond, it's hard to see him starting much I think we'd struggle to accommodate both in all honesty, but with Redmond you could get away with easing him in the side (interchanging with Odemwingie etc). Whereas Yarmolenko would expect to start.

It'd be interesting to see what Hughes would have in mind for Redmond.
If Arnie starts left and (hypothetically) Yarmolenko starts right - with Bojan and Wingie also looking for potential game time wide, the door wouldn't seem to be open much for him.
I'm all for competition (and Yarmy is probably a pipe dream anyway) - but that seems one too many players for a healthy scramble?

Surely Redmond will just be cover for Arnie like Assaidi would have been, a player who can play on the right in emergencies but principally he will be a bench player and nothing more I would have thought?

The difference with Redmond is that he is young enough to be prepared, you'd imagine, to start off on the bench. We may have to offer more or throw in a p/ex of Jerome or Walters to persuade them, though, even if that fee seems fair enough to us. Young English players carry a premium.

Which raises the question: why on earth would he come if the route for serious game time is so clogged?

But he looked wank yesterday Playing at less than his maximum with a move pending perhaps. Fair comment that, maybe he does want out and his mind not on the job. Seems a fair offer for a English player who could have potential to become a big success at our club. Over to you norwhich take it or leave it so we can all move on.

Wouldn't the same question be asked of Assaidi?
If we sign Yammy, I can't see Bojan and Diouf starting together, it'll be a case of either/or.
It's going to be very tough at Stoke this season and it is why I genuinely believe that at least two, maybe three of the big names already here will undoubtedly have to leave.

Agreed - even if just Redmond arrives, surely Walters, as well as Jerome, is off? Hughes is saying he wants to keep Crouch - and to be fair, he is the only big man alternative to Diouf - but Walters is getting 10 minutes at the end of the latest friendlies, and another new face to play out wide will limit further his potential game time. I'd add Adam to the list of departures too (and Palacios, Shea, Shotton and Ness if anyone wants them!). Walters and Adam will have potential buyers, but it depends on fee/wages.

Yeah - the same would be true of Assaidi. And that's maybe one reason why he isn't knocking the door down to sign here? But when would he or Redmond realistically see an opportunity for a decent run cropping up if he saw Arnie, Yarmy, Bojan and Wingie in a battle for game time with him? I know Bojan and Wingie could (and would probably prefer to) be used elsewhere, and Redmond could come in on either wing - but the potential for starts seems small. If I was 20, I think I'd try and find myself a more obvious route to regular football. He's at a key age to develop as has been much discussed recently in the context of English youngsters regressing. If the route to games out wide is closed off for Walters, surely this is also the final nail in his coffin? We've said that before and he's always bounced back into contention - but there wouldn't seem any opening for him if we signed one, let alone both, of these two.

£5M is certainly a fair prize and after yesterday's showing many would think £2M would be closer to his value! Well, I've seen Redmond several times and I think £5M is about right in today's market. He certainly is no striker though, he has to be played on the wing! I don't think £4M + Jerome would be a bad deal for any of the two clubs involved. From what I watched yesterday Norwich could really need a Jerome-like player to beef up their attack!

Yeah I agree with all that mate and I'd also add that I just can't see how Crouch is going to remain here either.
He finished last season on the bench with Odemwingie firmly seen as first choice ahead of him, since then we've signed Bojan and Diouf, so from where I'm sitting, he's now become FOURTH choice - that's not going to work is it?
