Київ in Ukrainian Kyiv everywhere else Very good. Then, I'd like that all of you stop saying 'Moscow'. The Russian name is 'Moskva'. 'Sankt-Peterburg' not 'Saint Petersburg', etc. Same with Kiev. Okay, in Ukrainian 'Kyiv', but in Russian (my native language) there's Kiev and only Kiev. I respect Ukraine and the Ukrainian language (the best language for singing songs in the world IMO), but I live in Russia and I'd like to use my own language. Thanks. |

Dynamo Kiev manager Sergei Rebrov insists he has heard nothing official about Stoke's alleged offer for Ukraine winger Andriy Yarmolenko.
It was reported in Ukraine last week that Stoke had made a 20million euros bid for Yarmolenko having failed with moves for his international team-mate Yevhen Konoplyanka and Inter Milan's Xherdan Shaqiri.
It was claimed that Stoke had already met with Dynamo officials to discuss the terms of the transfer, but Rebrov claims to know nothing of Stoke's interest.
"I know nothing about this proposal, but I told him that if he goes, it should be to a team that is fighting for the Champions League," Rebrov said on Sunday.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes neither confirmed nor denied Konoplyanka was a target when asked on Saturday, although he did admit he was the quality of player the club hopes to make their final signing of the summer transfer window.
""We've missed out on a couple of players," Hughes said. "We couldn't get them over the line.
"We're still hopeful we can get a player of top, top quality. If we can do that then we will probably be done for the window.
"Would that be Yarmolenko? A player of his type, yes.
"He's the level of player we hope to bring in if we can.
"There's a lot of speculation. We've had conversations with a lot of people that have connections with good players and those conversations have taken place probably since the New Year."

Sale of Beggo and Nzonzi 15 million
Not spent a lot AGAIN have we.
Sure someone will correct my maths and tell me we have been linked with another NO WAY I'M COMING player.
But I'm underwhelmed as usual.
We look a solid mid table team , but without a STAR player we are missing a spark needed to even stay where we are.

I think riv is just saying we have lost Two big star players in beggo and nzonz and replaced with what can only be described as youngsters with future potential
I kind of agree with him so far but, I'm hoping / assuming that we will spend bigger by the end of the window.

Looks like this is going to go the same way as Kono. We should move on to more acheivable targets and get them signed. I know that we are trying for a real star name signing but at this stage of our development, with our "reputation", and with no European football on offer, I think these signings are currently unrealistic. Hopefully we can improve over this season and just maybe qualify for the EL which could/should make it easier to sign this level of player. Seems money isn't everything as far as our targets are concerned.

How many more before we look at the process and the people responsible for executing it before we reaiss something
Target selection , story told , commercials offer , media management , negotiating stance , one or more of Them is materially undermining our efforts
We are of curse not the only team to miss targets but we are the only one so publically rejected so often after showing our knickers in public .

I don't think it is a Mike Ashley situation where the owner is hogging the transfer income to repay the debts. It seems clear to me that we are trying very hard to buy next level players and we are willing to pay what is necessary. True, we are not converting our interest, but I agree with Huges/the club - you need this type of talent to break out of the middle of the mid table bunch of clubs. The way I see it, is that we have no option but to try. We will never move beyond our current level unless we crack this problem, if not this year, then next. |

I take all these player links with a pinch of salt tbh' the only one I was gutted about was cedric Soares, as I felt he could've improved us, but these bigger name stars are always going to be harder to attract. I have faith in our club, but getting this 'Star' player may not happen this season, we have to be patient. (On an aside though I see southampton signed Jordy Clasie...they seem to have done some sound business again, but let's see how it pans out next season....)

I don't think it helps with the press and agents constantly putting us down and making us look small. If our targets read what's being said it can only be a negative influence on there decision.
They don't seem to aim there poison at Swansea, West Ham or Newcastle none of whom are better than us.

You have to question our negotiation strategy . You have to ask if the player 'might' be interested first . If he says he wants champions league football , then there is no point , unless we are prepared to double his wages. Three times now we have had the same response . Three times it has been no .
Three times we have made ourselves look stupid . Time to learn from our mistakes .
