Can we all just stop this pizza bollocks now, it's just going on and on. Does anyone actually find it funny? It's getting a bit old now. We shouldn't be ridiculing, or opening up for ridicule, our own transfer team as they seem to be doing a great job.

They are doing a great job - in fact for the past 12 months I'm struggling to think of a recruitment team who have done better. It is quite easy to spend £10s of millions on a player. Much harder to bring in the number of quality signings for almost nothing in terms of transfer fees - although we all accept that there will be significant signing on fees. I'm sure Sheikh Momo and a few others won't agree, though.

But if you read my post again carefully, you'll see I'm suggesting that the recruitment team should be judged over their deals in the past 12 months or so - specifically since Hughes was appointed. In that time I'd say there have been some superb deals and no bad ones if you exclude Guidetti's loan. Hopefully Bojan will extend that run of good deals but, if it doesn't we'll have to live with one dud in string of good ones.

Unless there are any get out clauses (like Roma had maybe?), that ~£11million over the 4 years. Which, if correct is much less than the Crouch deal in comparison (~£20million + over 4 years).

It is widely reported that Stoke's was the best offer on the table by a mile. An expensive deal that could be the best in our history. Or not.

We can only speculate on the transfer fee, signing on fee and wages. Going by the signings that have been made the last 12 months we haven't had our pants pulled down by clubs, agents or players.

I'm not suggesting we have had our pants puled down at all but I can't accept that this is anything other than highly expensive, high risk deal. The manager deserves being backed (he wasn't last summer) and I hope it works out for everyone.

Just for clarity, are we praising them for doing their jobs? ...that like saying if Diouf scores 15-20 next season - "so what, that's what he suppose to do" isn't it? Well, isn't it what these guys, when they were doing their jobs, have signed him to do?

be fair, they do deserve some credit, especially if you look at it this way: We have bought in proven prem experience in Ode, Sidwell, Ireland and Bardsley, a solid left back in Pieters, two potential gems in Muniesa and Teixeira and real quality in Diouf, Arnie and Bojan. All of that for around about the same price we bought in Crouchy. Half a squad (basically) which offers experience, potential and quality for £10 mill or so is nothing less than cracking business from Sparky and the boys upstairs.
At this rate, i'll be offering to buy them pizza...

The manager deserves being backed (he wasn't last summer) and I hope it works out for everyone. Carto is well known on the NS/SC semi pro football scene, as such he knows a lot of lower league football people, and the Stoke football scene in general. ThatS how we know him, he's actually one of us. He also happens to be an extremely humble and personable man. Given his "family member" status amongst the locals, especially the football players from our city's lower leagues a few years ago, is it not a surprise that his deals are not leaked prematurely? His deals are never leaked. The simple fact is that Carto is a good man, respected by his piers, and lives and breathes his job, football, and most specifically now, SCFC. To meet him is to like him IMO. I know nothing about Scholes, and assume he performs comparatively, but I do know Carto, and he would never sell out Stoke City FC. He doesn't deserve adulation, but he defo does NOT deserve to be ridiculed.

I remember a bloke from Newport who deserved adulation but got ridicule and abuse, not surprisingly from those proudly atop their high horses right now.

Don't understand duck, IMO is an acronym for In My Opinion, a sentence suffixed with this acronym generally indicates an opinion expressed by the author. This is used to separate the opinion of the author from the factual evidence and subsequent conclusions. Usually, a counter-argument expressed against the peripheral opinions of an author, rather than the body of their text, especially when ledged with a basic blasphemy, indicates an ad hominem. But, a basic "Jesus Christ" could be the beginning of an incisive debate, or a vacuous Tourette-like reaction. I can't wait to see.
