Dear Denise, will you marry me? Or even you Peter in these enlightened (?) days. Errr Civil Ceremony only, if you need to go to Plan B, if you please.

Isn't this somewhat irrelevant regarding the football club and in particular buying players? FFP will make sure smaller clubs like ourselves will continue to know their place despite having a mega rich owner.
Note to Coates - expand the ground and make your staff get off their lazy arses and sell the extra seats. We need to increase the revenue coming into the club.

Peter marry me instead, I know with having a tallywhacker might be a problem and I admit it's not the biggest. But I am willing to have the operation and i'm sure there is an opening to be created there. PM me if you think it's a goer.

Sometimes we forget its their money that they worked hard for in their time and not ours or the clubs.
They will budget for seasons/players/wages etc which is why they will occasionally tell the press the club is skint or cant afford a player etc.
Nobody at any football club, except maybe citeh can say the chairman will say yes to everything. The Coates family are frugal, intelligent and hard business people who want to see their money work hard for them.

Makes you wonder what the family will do over the next few years. The must be scope for Bet365 to grow for a few years yet but there won't be a need (or any sense) in ploughing the majority of the profits into the existing business. You'd think that, at some point in the next year or so the family will be looking to diversify, if only to avoid having too many eggs in one basket. I suspect that Denise will already be looking around for another opportunity to invest at least some of the Bet365 profits into. A shiny new HQ on Fezzie Park for one. You can bet (see what I did there) that she'll be hoping to crack America. Online gambling is illegal in America so she'd have a long wait. No signs of that changing any time soon. Where they will see massive growth as in multi-billionaire status is when the Chinese market opens up. They already serve China but have to circumvent the great Chinese firewall all the time. It's not easy to place a bet in China but some people do. Once it's straight forward they will never look back.

China is where they are concentrating.

Now if my family was worth £1200M I'd spend about £400M of it turning Stoke into Champions League winners.
Then the relatives would have to tighten their belts a bit and struggle along with what's left.

I couldn't help noticing that there were not one but two sons or families of Stoke-On-Trent in the UK's 100 billionaires list. The other, richer that the Coates's, being John Phones4U Caudwell who it said is spending £190 million on knocking 2 Mayfair Mansions together. Seems he has ploughed the rest in to cosmetic improvements on his wife who, while eminently shaggable, does look somewhat over baked He's going for the Walter look...

seems alot of money but to owning a premiership football club and compared to other club owners isn't he something like 3rd poorest club owner? The Coates' family are richer than; Lerner at Villa (but there are rumours that the richest man ever to own a football club is in the process of buying them) The guys who own Burnley The guys who own Palace The guys who own Everton Allam at Hull Similar to the Shriv......... family at Leicester (it will be interesting to see how their current wealth is rated) Approaching the wealth of Henry at Liverpool (although his change in wealth in the last 12 months has yet to be publicised) Similar to Short at Sunderland The guys at Swansea Peace and Hale at Brazil The twins at Wham. And of curse, Uncle Peter's wealth has increased over the last 12 months by an astonishing rate. In a year, we could assume that he will be past the Shriv............. family at Leicester, Henry and Short. When Derby or QPR are promoted, their owners both have more wealth than the Coates' family. We are very fortunate and should rejoice every day that we have such fantastic owners. PS If we were to be relegated, only the owners of Fulham, Bristol City and Port Vale are richer (I made up one of those 3 )

I guess, rather than cash at hand, it's the value of all their possessions including the company.
So sell it and give it all to Stoke!

excellent news but what has peter coates & his families wealth got to do with scfc? makes me laugh when posters come on here telling peter coates to sign this player or that player or fill the corners in, and yet many don't even go to any matches!!!!!!! Would be nice though if they spent just a little bit of their wedge making their football stadium less ugly and more fit for purpose and they don't even have to dip into their wealth, how about spending a bit of the TV and finishing 9th pot of gold.
