Spare a thought for Glennda after tonight's awards night. He'd cleared a shelf and everything.

Glenn Whelan....my brothers think he is garbage, but I've always been a fan of his as he just all the dirty work allowing players like N'Zonzi to drive forward with the ball. Unsung hero this season.

Tough call but it has to be Whelan. Immense improvement and makes us tick. Great season.

The dark house Nzonzi, he's really stepped up this year deserves as much consideration as Whelan IMO.

In retrospect the whole season it must be Begovic or Shawcross, but i voted for Arni, cause he had a massive development this season. As he arrived at Stoke, he was completely down..disregarded in Bremen, got no Chance to Play, always on the bench....that´s why we got him so cheap....and a half year later, he showed us (constantly during the last weeks) that he can be a big weapon....hope he stays here for a Long time....thank you Stoke City!!!!

Is it possible to take my vote back and give it to Glenn?
I'm feeling a bit sorry for the poor lad now. Picking up no awards after such a sensational season....

How many awards did Odemwingie and Nzonzi win? Same as Glennda. If Odemwingie had been here longer he'd have undoubtedly been amongst the awards though. The big winners on the night were Ryan and Bego. Others included Arnie and Assaidi. Exactly as I called it really.

Unless you're claiming credit for Asmir and Ryan being the big winners which the vast majority called and agreed with anyway. Maybe you could go the whole hog and put a cheeky tenner on tomorrow being Thursday. Monster! Monster!

Anyone else think that the Glenn (although having a good season) is getting more recognition than he should simply because his performances this season are being compared to those of the past 3? Which in the main were below par.

I've voted for Glenn but I wouldn't mind in the least if Ryan or Bego wins our pole, all three deserve it.
I'm delighted for Ryan that he won last night and Bego has been recognised before so I want to vote for Glenn Whelan because for me he most represents on the field what MH/Stoke have achieved this season. He and his fellow midfielders have adapted to the new style and been the core of the passing game, building from the back with some attractive football. It took time to get it right and as they have done so Glenn has been the fulcrum of the side around which the team have evolved. He has been excellent in defence, notably in the air, and his beating Kenwyn Jones to a high ball at Cardiff to me summarised the difference in Stoke this season. He has had wobbly games, but he has also been brilliant in some as well. He may not have been man of the match very often, but since his return from suspension he has been regularly man of the month, alongside Ryan and Bego.
So I think it is time we gave him recognition for what he has done for the club, which I think MH did when he handed him the captaincy in Ryan's absence.

Which in the main were below par. As I put in my post above, I think we should recognise Glenn because he does most represent the improvement in play on the previous 3 seasons. If there was a most improved player award he should IMO win it by a country mile.

Personally, I couldn't call the award this year as there were quite a few players I thought were excellent. No one really stood out from the rest and it was a close call IMO.

I concede to your excellent retort. Given that a fair few of those awards weren't player of the season awards (Assaidi and Cameron, for example) and it's generally agreed that the Adam shout is a mental anyway, I stand by it.
