No way should chamberlain get anywhere near an England shirt IMO . He is very overrated and, along with Wilshere and Walcott, only picked because Wenger says they should. Lampard could still do a decent job, is ten times the player and Chamberlain isn't fit to lick never mind clean Lampard's boots . He should concentrate on his goal keeping. I don't agree with this. Ox was one of the best players on the pitch in the Bayern munich game recently. Looks a class act when played in the middle - his best position - just off the striker. for me: Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Stirling Oxlade-Chamberlain (or Barkley) Lallana Sturridge or Rooney I would be making sure that Barkley plays a prominent role and would bring him on in any of those attacking midfield positions if someone isn't playing well. Up front, I'd seriously consider not bothering with Rooney but I still don't rate sturridge at the highest level, we don't really have a top notch striker who can get in behind defenders, but against the teams in the group stage we will have joy if we have quick attacking players running in support from midfield. We need attacking midfielders who will actually take on defenders, be aggressive and dribble past players because that is exactly what Italian, Uruguayan defenders struggle against most. Both of those teams will try to dictate a slow pace game, killing it stone dead. We also have Townsend, Carroll, Rodriguez, that we can bring on to vary up the attack. In midfield, if Henderson reverts back to being the wank player he was before this season then I'd consider putting milner in there to plug the gaps, at least he is disciplined. I think we have some decent players. Whether the likes of Stirling, Ox, Barkley,Townsend etc can become top world class players - I'm not sure but this tournament should be a great chance for these young players to give it a go, they have nothing to lose

For me of the players chosen I'd go with ..............................Hart............................ Johnson......Jagielka........Cahill.......Shaw ............................Gerrard......................... ..Oxlade Cham.....Lallana.........Rodriguez ...................Rooney.........Sturridge........... Yep I'd go with that. With so many scousers in we'd be guaranteed a penalty.

According to this, John Stones is going to be named in the provisional 30-man squad. Must say, he was very eye-catching at the weekend. And if he's competing with the likes of Jones and Smalling, he hasn't got much to beat. Dunno what it says about Shawcross though

It basically means that you can play well against a dogshit team like Fulham and still have more chance of getting into the squad than a player who has been consistently good (as well as being a club captain) for the last five years.
Super Roy Hodgson.

Cleverley and Smalling shouldn't be in, nor should Cahill and Welbeck.
I'm not sure I'd have Barkley in the starting XI but he should definitely be ahead of Cleverley in the pecking order.
The Southampton trio have all performed better than Man Utd's England players. Let's see if he selects players on form, or reputation.

Cleverley, Smalling and Jones will all be going to Brazil. Don't you worry.

Everyone complained when Clev and Smalling got in the side against Denmark, both have done literally nothing even remotely half decent since then, but you can guarantee they'll both be selected. Staggering how shit Woy's selection is.

FM The fact he called Caulker up last time when Jagielka got injured rammed that fact home

Shawcross will be fresh for Stoke for next season, as Woy will never pick him - this is fine by me: Stoke first and foremost.
As for the team, I will have to pick it from Woy's likely squad, whcih means at least one shit centre half gets a game.
(4-2-3-1)
Hart
Walker Jagielka Lescott Baines
Gerrard Wilshere
Townsend Rooney Oxlade-Chamberlain
Sturridge
We need pace and youth going forward. At least three of the back four played together at Everton for years, so are familiar with each other's games - Walker and Townsend likewise. I cannot bring myself to pick either of Jones or Smalling in the starting XI and Cahill would be nowhere near the England squad if he did not play for Chelsea. Barkley, Sterling, Lennon and Lallana would be good back up as attacking midfielders. I'd take Carroll as a shock tactic if needed, with Welbeck as an alternative to Sturridge.

I would take Carroll too. That goal he scored in the week against Sunderland was a monster. We haven't got anybody who attacks the ball like that. He's proved he can do it at international level because he scored a cracker against Sweden in the Euros.
This is a bloke who, as a kid, scored a header on the edge of our 18 yard box with Huth and Shawcross for company. Not many that can do that.
I think he would be a game changer coming off the bench in the last quarter of the game. That kind of aerial power would put the wind right up Johnny Foreigner* ;-)
(*Only 75 days to go -thought I might start the jingoistic rhetoric now)

Most people are assuming Woy will go with 4-2-3-1 which would be the best formation - but he does tend to go with rigid 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 formations which we all know don't work at this level. he'll go 4-5-1 with Rooney isolated up front in all likelihood.
Surprised not everyone is going for Lallana, he is a player who is always looking for the ball, is technically excellent, and is very quick and fit - we were badly lacking that type of player against Italy in the last euro's. Chelsea and Liverpool are chasing after his signing for a reported 23 million quid in the summer. Surely he is a certainty for the starting lineup?

It says nothing about Shawcross.
It speaks volumes about Woy.

----------------------Hart--------------------- Johnson---Cahill----Jagielka----Baines -------Henderson-------Gerrard----------- Sterling---------Lallana----------Rooney ------------------Sturridge-------------------- Have to agree with this. I would be tempted to stick Welbeck in for Rooney if he is his usual inept self against decent opposition, at least Welbeck wont sulk if things are not going his way. Every one of those defenders send a shiver down my spine - not in a good way. I am sure Jagielka was an ageing championship player 15 years ago We really are lacking any world class players - going to be a hard watch. At least we have a world class manager - In waiting somewhere
