First name on the team sheet v Chelsea for me. So who, from the side that has one the last three games without him, deserves to be dropped for him? I'm not sure its a tough one, you'll assume that Azpilicueta will start and after Walters tore him apart last time I'm finding it difficult not to include him. Personally I'm half tempted to put Wingie through the middle and drop Crouch. It's a massively though call but I think its hard to leave Walters out having said that he wouldn't start v Castle the week after.

The plain and simple matter of fact is that Jon Walters has been poor for 99% of the season and does not deserve to come back into the starting 11 for the rest of the season!

We live in a competitive world, there's no room for broken reeds, lame ducks or stool pigeons. Neither Mrs C.J. nor I has ever had room for broken reeds, lame ducks or stool pigeons.

I'm a big SJW fan but his absence in the last three games really has forced me to re-appraise my opinion about his role in the starting XI.
Is that it, or will Sparky stick him back in? I know we've won three on the bounce but is this the end for Super Jon?

Surely it's the end of him as an untouchable.

Chelsea away he'll start, no doubt about that, after that we will see. But does it really need another thread?

The one thing about Mark Hughes is he has no favourites whatsoever and all players run the risk of losing their place and being subbed
It's refreshing

Well the stats don't lie. We are clearly a far better, more effective and more efficient side without him. In his absence we have won 3 out of 3 producing one of our best home performances since promotion and undoubtedly our best away performance (and result) since promotion. It's transformed our season from a pretty average one to a very good one. We now look far more balanced with 2 quick skilful players out wide and some creativity in behind the striker. No reason whatsoever to start that bloke again in a league game. The last few weeks certainly raise the question as to why the fuck we have been starting him week in week out for the last 2 and a half years. Nowhere near good enough at this level.

Super Julie is a bench player for me. Can come on, play 2 or 3 positions, and will run around like a headless chicken. Not good enough for a starting place though.

Works hard and achieves nothing, there's no space for him in Hughes' glorious total football regime.
I'm sure he'll do a good job for someone in the Championship.

I agree that we should keep the same attacking line up an that Walterd should be nowhere near the first team from now on but make no mistake about it,Chelsea aren't there for the taking and to go there and beat them would take some sort of gargantuan effort of biblical proportions Note: Gargantuan has got to be word of the day so far?

Yes, I thought that it did warrant discussion as there were a number of threads, and one in particular, that were addressing this very subject! We've just played 3 games without SJW but i 'm happy for this thread to be merged if you think it's the way forward.
