The Charlatans headlining Reading in 1999. Debuting the 'Us and Us Only' stuff... Think after Rob Collins death and Knebworth (Oasis) gigs, they went into hiding for a bit?? It was a fucking magic comeback, and out of my tiny mind as I was, they truly DID rip it up that night.

Seen Weller a few times myself, always a good gig. The Jam at Trentham Gardens in 79 was brill but the best concert for me was Queen in 78 at Bingley Hall. Missus fainted just before the band came on stage and after St Johns had sorted her out they let us go upstairs to the balcony.Just me,mar lady and a couple of people in wheelchairs.Best view ever.Awesome.

Rainbow Bingley Hall with RJD and Cozy Powell ( first time I got to see Blackmore live) Springsteen Roundhay Park Born in USA tour Journey Manchester Apollo 2007 (waited years for this) REO Speedwagon Bridgewater Hall (sound quality was the best I've heard at a gig).
To be honest I've been to hundreds of gigs and can honestly say there wasn't one I didn't enjoy.

Twas Spy vs Spy. Now then, I saw Sculptress and Ben Reynolds upstairs at the WS, was that one of yours? I didn't get to any others unfortunately. Bilgepump rank amongst the best live acts I witnessed in the 2000's. Awesome at the Talbot. Who else did you put on?
The Wow were indeed something special, they played a musicroom night with Kill Yourself, just incredible. {recorded through the mixing desk, it still sounds fresh today.} Top night.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much happening at the moment. Though I am out of the loop.

The wow, kill yourself and this ain't Vegas and I didn't have to go to Leeds or somewhere to see it! I'd love to hear that recording. Would you be able to upload it at all? No probs if not like. I helped sort out that sculptress gig, but my mate sorted the lineup. Got a great turnout that did. First time ashtray navigations had played down stoke for a long time I think. We might have met at the door! I've seen bilge pump a lot over the years. They played the glebe once (with us I think) with doog from the wow on drums filling in for Neil who couldn't do that tour, that was pretty special. Did you catch that? We put a lot of stuff on at the WS and the glebe. Action beat, this ain't Vegas, kong, Sloath, my disco and loads of others. had part chimp on at fat cats as well a couple of times. If you go on that MBV video I posted somewhere on this thread there's loads of videos on my YouTube account if you're at a loose end!

That was my fault: The Musicroom. That was a special night. Kill Yourself in forensic suits and gas masks!!! I recorded most nights, through the desk, with a bit of ambient mic, some great recordings. The artistes had copies, it was always my intention to do some sort of limited label, was aiming for vinyl really but still havn't done enough about it. The recording of one of the Scrulptress nights I put on upstairs at the Talbot was released officially by a small independent. I'll pm you about the Wow/KY recording.

That'd make my week to hear that gig back! I remember going to 4 or 5 music room nights. Charlottefield and Princess Headbutt was another cracking gig. How were Can in Manchester? We always wanted to put Damo Suzuki on in Stoke but he wanted a fortune!

Gilberto- Unfortunately the Can I saw was the Malcolm Moody version, still amazing to see though and 'She Brings the Rain' was top notch. The Night & Day was intimate enough too. But no Damo. I had a look at the feasibility of hosting a Damo show, but like you say far too expensive for what may have turned out to be a bit of wailing? A big regret was not stumping up the dollar for Lightening Bolt when I had the chance. That would have been great upstairs in the big 'dog-fighting' hall at the Talbot.
These gig memories keep bubbling to the surface...
Super Furry Animals at the Theatre Royal Hanley was nuts. The gig morphed into 20 minutes of wired SFA techno at the end. I thought the Royal in/on Piccadilly was a great music venue, didn't Mike Lloyd buy it? what has become of it?
