I'll sign in as well, even had a bottle of bubbly in the car to celebrate with afterwards.

DaveF, dont remember that Randall equaliser I remember a Lee Chapman equaliser so late that Liverpool only had time to kick off again. Bogus it was a Rico pen against Cambridge he used to take them with either foot as well to fool opposing keepers.

I was there, at a mere 11 years of age. I hope tomorrow is nothing like as nervewracking.

The Stoke away support that day was estimated to have been somewhere in the region of 14,000+ It was truly the most amazing day I've ever had following Stoke. Thinking that 0-0 would be enough and the hearing, with despair, the news that Sunderland had come back at Wrxham and had taken the lead in the 84th minute. We really thought we'd blown it and then Paul Richardson popped up with that incredible 88th minute diving header. I went absolutely berserk, both on the terrace and then on the pitch at the end of the game. I'll take that game to the grave with me!

Yup I was there with mates from 'Castle High greta memories from Notts County.
I remember the phantom penalty taker before the game - it might well have been TJ - he used to go to Hassell Street School and was a couple of years older than me - still is!
Anyone else remember the penalty taker that scored with aplomb but no ball?

Yes it was the best 'Stoke away day' in the last 30 years, and comes a close second to wembley '72.
To save any disputes the penalty taker was a mate of mine 'Basher' Bailey from Milton.

.............. Sign in. How many Oatie posters were there to witness Richo putting it in the net to take us back to the top flight ? 1) njkk next.... I'm not sure I'm a qualifier because although I was there I didn't actually see Richo's header hitting the back of the net due to the mayhem generated by the massed ranks of Potteries humanity after O'Callaghans header is parried!!

I was there with three mates. Always remember the ref backing away towards the tunnel before blowing the final whistle, looking at the massed ranks of Stoke fans behind the goal waiting to invade the pitch !!

I remember it like it was yesterday, my brother took and me and one of my mates in his car. We had another mate who's mum wouldn't let him go!!!!!!!!!
The front cover of their programme congratulated us on getting promotion, despite the fact that we had to beat them to be sure of it.
We started off fairly far back near the score board but moved when it came under a hail of fire as it was pelted with gravel/ash, what ever it was that terrace was made from.
We said we wouldn't go on the pitch because we didn't want to get split up, but there was such a surge that we followed on.
My mate took a big clod out of the ground right in front of a copper who just looked like he hoped the whole thing would end quickly.
The journey back was amazing, their was a 40 mile convoy of Stokies passing beer from car to car.

I was there with my Dad - who sadly isn't with us now - but whose birthday was yesterday. So I consider today to be his present!
My abiding memory is the arrival of the masses from the train station... we were already in the ground and ran to the back of the away end to witness a sea of red and white snaking to the ground! The cry in the ground was along the lines of '...there's only 10,000 stokies...., 10,000 stokies, there's only 10,0000 stokies..'
Magic memories...

Yep I was there too... I was the tender age of 16 ;D Went with a few old school mates from Newcastle C of E Seem to remember - Scanner - Faggy - Louie & Griff being there.... When we invaded the pitch at the end I remember picking up one of the cushions that had been thrown out of the stand and being chased the full length of the pitch by the rest of the guys who wanted it.... it ended up in a rugby tackle in the penalty area and the cushion being thrown around... I also had a bit of the pitch in a match box... found it a few years later it was just a box of dirt lol COME ON STOKE - We are heading to our rightful position in British football.... struggling in the big league TTFN Dave B AKA the Mº¿ºSE
