Ran 2:54 in an unofficial training marathon this morning, needed to get the monkey off by back! Last 4 miles felt so tough, but managed to finish the job! Last night's track session was taken by your training partner in the absence of the coach and the result was my VO2 Max went up another point...... it's easy to see why you weren't allowed to flag on your marathon

Isobel Parkrun tomorrow.....and then 10 miles training run Sunday Run today in the heat? Not bloody likely! I did the Roaches race yesterday. Seriously hydrated during the day and took water 3 or 4 times before the race and my mouth was dry before we'd turned off the lane for the climb. Took a very impressive tumble on the ridge so I came away with a decent graze on my arm. First time I've visited the paramedics after a race

Signed up to do The Yorkshire 3 Peaks in July. Started getting some hilly runs in for training. Hoping to raise a few quid for charity too. Any donations very much appreciated, no matter how small. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thomas-beech83Iâm walking the 3 peaks next weekend. 24 miles I think? Iâll let you know what itâs like đđ» Just back from this. Brilliant. We stopped at The Crown overnight and started the walk from Pen-y-ghent as Peak number 1. Took us 9 hours 50. Really hard work in places. There are certain parts that are really steep and very, very difficult terrain. Thereâd be some bits that Iâd say would be impossible to go up or down safely by running. Tricky too if youâre thinking of running it as some of the paths are narrow and it would be difficult to get past. Itâs hard enough to walk it - I wouldnât try and run it but then again youâre a young, fit lad so go for it!! Thereâs a couple of cafes around too. We stopped at a mobile van selling baps and stuff by the viaduct. Lovely. I donât want to put you off running it butâŠ! If youâre walking it then proper walking boots that come over your ankles would be best. Iâve just got some Merrils that only just got me through. Let me know if thereâs anything youâd like to ask đđ» - youâll love it!

Fantastic morning out and about I think the route took in just about every piece of scenery on offer. Nice trip to the cafe overlooking the Boatlift for breakfast afterwards to watch that particular engineering marvel and great company as ever

Done 11 mile today. Baldwins Gate to Moddershall! 1.31. Total ascent was just over a mile. In my book, based on some shorter (but hilly) runs that I do that's a good ascent- does anyone consider this a 'hilly run? Total descent was 0.64m

What should I be looking at? The Samsung health app shows the total ascent and total descent that I shared. It also shows highest elevation (which was 632 ft) and lowest (which was 340 ft). However, when looking at the graph this appears to be lowest and highest points as opposed to anything cumulative over the run. Like I say would be great to understand what I should be using (so that I can compare against races etc)

Like I say would be great to understand what I should be using (so that I can compare against races etc) I use a Garmin watch and the Garmin Connect App which gives an elevation over the run. The Garmin elevation is usually slightly lower than the elevation given by Strava which was accepted locally when we were doing the virtual races under lockdown restrictions. I run on parts of the area that you would have been running through so I know there are a few decent hills but nowhere near that sort of elevation. For instance a circular 10K run taking in Standon, Chapel Chorlton, Hill Chorlton and Maer gives a running elevation around 350 feet with most of that on the Standon to Hill Chorlton stretch.

That's a tough route though! It's a very long uphill stretch up to Modershall Oaks!

Just under 6k tonight. Not as far as I wanted, but the heat was just too much. Hoping to get some longer, slower runs in before the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to build up a bit of endurance and strengthen the legs. Just over 2 weeks to go. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thomas-beech83Out of interest, anybody on here done the Y3P before? Any tips?

I'm just running as means of training to get fit. There are 4 of us in total doing it, all of various degrees of fitness, so I'll be happy if we get it down in around 11 hours as a best guesstimate. I've already got a decent pair of walking boots, so that's that sorted. We've booked a room here - www.3peaksbunkroom.co.uk/ - which backs onto The Golden Lion Pub. Really looking forward to it. Was it busy for you on the day? Lots of people on the route etc?

Was it busy for you on the day? Lots of people on the route etc? Iâm glad youâre walking it! We stopped for about half an hour in total and came in under 10 hours so youâll piss 11 hours. It was nicely busy as there were 300 odd doing it for a dementia charity. That was helpful as there tended to be someone on the path in front and someone behind. Iâm guessing youâre doing it clockwise starting at Pen y Gent. Some do it anti-clockwise which is helpful as it prevents bottlenecks if everyone was going the same way around. The difference in temp was amazing from the bottom to the top. Could easily be in shorts and t shirt and then a jumper and a light coat up on the peak - extremely windy up there! There arenât many places to eat where youâre staying so youâll either need to book at The Crown where we stayed or take your own if you can cook where youâre stopping. TBH the peaks are hard work but the rest of the work is pretty flat and straightforward. Amazing scenery - youâll love it Iâm sure. Be really interested to hear how you get on.

Just a sandwich or bap etc? At night we'll have a few beers and food at The Golden Lion. If the weather is nice I'm thinking shorts and base layer will be fine, but I'll be packing a fleece and waterproofs just in case. Sunglasses, cap and suncream a must if the sun is out I assume. Do I need to be packing blister plasters and things like that? Any other things to pack that I may not have considered? Are there places to refill water between peaks?

I'll admit I haven't read the details yet, but I've seen a couple of stories today (mainly headlines) regarding cardio endurance training may be harmful, more so for men than women.
Should we be concerned?

There was a food fan near the viaduct that you will pass before the second peak. We bought bacon/egg sarnies tea, sweets/ water and chocolate etc. Didnt see anywhere to refill water though. There was also a cafe and some toilets after peak 2. Sounds like youâve got the right supplies and clothes. I did take plasters just in case and some extra hayfever tablets. Sounds like youâre good to go! Oh - I assume youâve got a map?!!
