5k Strava PB tonight on a hilly Brockwell Parkrun course. 23:29. Wonder what I could manage if I wasn’t a smoker 🤣 Cough, cough...18:29? In fairness, I’m not a heavy smoker anymore. The odd one and when I have a drink. I’ve done many a half marathon but never actually done Potters before. Will be doing it for the first time next month.

14 miles in the sweltering heat in Spain, I’m crap at running in heat but this was next level! Thought I wouldn’t make it back to the hotel.
Gonna try that Kempton Race track marathon as a LR next Sunday

Tough track session tonight. Two mile warm up, 5 minute tempo, 10 x 2 minute efforts with 75 second recoveries running back to base followed by a 2 mile warm down. Spin class for the first time tomorrow so it should be interesting

Feeling fresh and in great shape, yet maranoia still taking hold 🤣

Breathing not under any undue pressure and heartrate hit 129 compared to 165 on the track last night.

You'll be fine then 🙂 I was on for a 3.40 until we cam out of the grounds of the old stately home on about 20 miles, hit a 30 mph wind in the face for the last 10k, with bigger gusts, and got in on 3.47.00

Anything less than 2:47 from him and I'll be disappointed Just happy to match the 70 year old 😅 I ran with the 82 year old yesterday trying to break his local 5K record which would be the 4th time he's improved it, just outside by a second but he started around 6 seconds behind the line. Every kilometre going by at an average 5:22 and the last hundred metre sprint to the line at 4:29 pace. Virtually immediate recovery after stopping like the rest of us. Taking vet 80 parkrun records across the South when he visits the kids proving that that competitive streak never goes away

Just under 3:30, not sure what happened around 19 miles but my legs and back went and couldn't keep the stride going. Painful shuffle to the finish after that! Never had the issue before so not sure where it came from.
Focus now on the shorter races I reckon!

It was mainly on tarred path with some compact dirt track and a small section on hard flat turf. It was 4 “laps” but the laps crisscrossed all over the place. It was flat but got a bit boring after a while. There weren’t many doing the marathon but the benefit of the crisscross laps was that there were always some runners around.

Sorry haven't been online over the weekend but here is my Edinburgh
Saturday Parkrun along the coast was a 23.44 which was quickest for me in around 4 years.
Half marathon was a nice 1:54:24 & it could have been quicker if I had decided the final out/back 2 miles in Musselbrugh to go for it. 5 mins quicker that Stafford the other month. Great route & even running in the Chorlton colours I still got the cheers (Black Pear colours for Parkrun) Train service was awful though between Waverley & Musselburgh
So....onto Tenby now in July for half & officially the Berlin training has started!
