Done loads of phys this week.
I really did not want to run today legs felt tired. It was a mile day today.
Pulled a 7.25 mile run out the bag which is quite decent for me

Big week for me with 50 miles running and 115 miles cycling on the turbo trainer.
Really enjoying the cycling, maybe I'm in the wrong group? 😉
Going to train as if Edinburgh Marathon will be going ahead in May, if nothing else, at least I will hopefully get fitter and quicker again.

I used to be a half decent runner. 10k PB of 38.21 and marathon of 3.59 (that was Bolton Hill though which they market as one of the toughest in the uk).
Anyway, I'd not run for quite a bit before lockdown, but over lockdown I put over two stone on (now touching 15 stone).
Just started back, can only run 1.5-2 miles and I'm fucked (not sure sure though if it's physical or mental)!!! Determined to get back into some kind of decent/competitive shape.
If anyone's baldwins gate/Castle way and sounds in a similar way let me know- would be more than up for a run!!!

Hopefully if it does, there will be some smaller marathon events to put the training to use. For now though, a day off to rest these poorly knees!

Going to attempt 10k tonight and see how far I get. Haven’t been able to manage it since getting COVID and 5k has been a struggle at times. If I can squeeze 8k in I’ll be made up....

Think this was Northy's problem last year. Marathon fit gets Covid and then takes ages to get a 10K in. Treat it like starting back after an injury there's no need to set targets. Good luck.

It's going to be a while before we can get the crowds back although having said that I did the Arley Hall 10K in the Autumn and it was well organised, Covid secure and fortunately on a vast outdoor site with only 800 runners. The city ones are going to be more problematic.

I managed 7.2k last night and felt like I’d climbed Everest afterwards. I think I’ll look to stagger my goal of getting back to 10k......

Ran 13.5 miles this morning (3 x 4.5 mile laps) along snowy lanes in freezing fog. Was out before dawn and on the second lap, the hill top section was above the fog, so I caught the sunrise. The valleys were still filled with fog, and with the hill snow picking up the dawn light, it appeared the whole landscape had been ironed out and that I was running on a mountain plateau. Everywhere totally silent. Didn't feel like West Yorkshire, not even Earth maybe at one point. Amazing stuff.
Was it foolhardy to run in snow and freezing fog? Definitely. Could I have gone arse over tit and done myself an injury, even with good trail shoes on? Quite possibly. Did I set any records? No, not even for my slow pace. But I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Liverpool Rock & Roll end of May gone....and to be honest I think the organisation behind the R&R events will be gone too So thats nothing in the race calendar now until....Berlin! It's rearranged for late October now. This time the postponement suits me, I've had a knee injury lingering around for a few months now, so a marathon in May was starting to look pretty unlikely. In terms of R&R, this seems to be the first postponement which has been done with plenty of warning. Still don't think they are doing refunds or a virtual option. There are definitely better race organisers out there for sure.

Did 11 last Sunday and a sub 50 min 10k on Tuesday, not been out since, was hoping to get out today but had a walk instead, lanes were a bit icy even at lunchtime, lots of flooding about which froze over and still -1 at midday today.
Hopefully a better weekend coming up.

As a lot of people say it is since they were taken over by Ironman, and boy if you have an issue with them then good luck. The expo set up has steadily got worse over the years, and the. quality of the bling dropped too which I know isn't the most important thing but is a starter. Orginisation wise Ive seen the 5k in Liverpool declared void as the route was short for the 1st few corals, Ive seen the end of Dublin half become a fiasco with not enough staff in the pens giving out T shirts/medals so it became a free for all. Did Vegas which was fantastic & a trip in a lifetime, but again poor organisation for during run. Add onto this medals not arriving in post & chasing them up to eventually get the ones your own by chance at expo in Madrid.... .....your right, their are most certainly better organisers out there, and better races too.

I've considered giving up running in the past week. After starting in March when my bike broke, there has been more time I haven't been able to run. First I killed my ankle largely due to shoe shops being closed, then when the ankle was finally doing better, I knackered my calf while gardening and made it worse running. After 7 weeks, the calf felt miraculously better overnight a few days ago, but now my feet hurt all over!
I did manage just over 2 miles at 07:15 pace today, which isn't much slower than my 5k pace before I hurt my calf, and my feet didn't hurt that much while I was running. I'll take it easy with my first 5k of the year this weekend, assuming today's run hasn't made my feet worse.

I hurt my knee doing a gentle warm up at home this morning, so once again thought maybe I should give up! The sock I was wearing seemed to hurt it, and I don't think it's even a compression sock. I changed that sock and went out anyway, planning to walk if I didn't feel like running. I ended up running my 4th longest distance ever at 7.2k. Oops! Even trying a slow pace knackered me out as much as faster runs though - I averaged 5:12/km, though a 4:20/km last km suggests I had energy left in the tank.
I didn't enjoy most of the run all that much, but I'd forgotten how good it can feel after. I usually run on my lunch breaks then return straight to work, so maybe that doesn't give me time to enjoy the feeling.
