10K training run today bang on 40 minutes. I can't remember running this well at the end of a season before. Shaping up to be an exciting end to the season for Group C! Top 3 in group C are all flying, special mention to my club mate 😉 Been back properly for around 2 weeks, and it's starting to come back, 6-7 weeks of consistency and think I'll be back to where I was earlier in the year. Signed up for Edinburgh Marathon in May, so main focus is to get fit for the mileage and intensity that comes along with marathon training.

Your mate is doing terrible, tell him to get his finger out either him or me have to win one of the next two and it's not looking promising It's going to take a low 39 this weekend and that's just to beat me. Is he knackered after his fabulous virtual London marathon performance? If you fancy a run over the next fours weeks I have spaces available at the moment

I did it last year, horrible weather, pissed down with rain before and the first hour and driving winds into your face for the 7 miles run back into Edinburgh, enjoy it

Thought I'd stay out a bit longer today. I haven't ran further than 10K since 2013 and so thought I try a bit more. Chose a flatter route and it was an ideal temperature. Well chuffed with 11+ miles Attachment Deleted

Quite a few on the Oatcake strava group, do they all post on here, or joined in from knowing club members? A lady from work joined after seeing me join, thinking it was a challenge. I ran in Stevenage last night and had somebody from Brazil give me kudos, no idea how they see it

I've had a couple of interesting runs over the last two days. Yesterday was the complete trip down memory lane from my childhood haunts taking in Red Heath wood, Coppice Wood and Back Lane/ Bluebell Wood in Silverdale and also a trip down Lyme (2 mile) Road and back though the entirety of Keele Woods. Today around Cheddleton, The Heath and Ipstones including 3 x 10 minute tempo runs on the hills with 5 minute recoveries with one of the top local ladies. Coalpitford Hill to finish the 12 miles off for anyone that knows it

Tell me about it this year has inspired a few people to get out and about. My lad retired from sport 6 years ago aged 16 and concentrated on booze, birds and the mates instead. Thanks to the Covid crisis he's down to a 25 minute 5K now and he hasn't even started trying yet

Training seems to be going well for a change, couple of 45 miles a week in the bag and 3000ft of climbing, hopefully all will have been good for Meerbrook this weekend, 1st race (virtual) in over a year with injuries.

Good 14 miles yesterday morning, my plus 1 said 'here comes the rain, I don't mind the rain but I hate the wind' 5 minutes later at the highest point on the run we were getting battered sideways from a squall, so strong the non standing foot felt it was being blown sideways and almost tripping you over. As she is small and slender I had to take the windward side, she won't be mentioning wind again

I stuck to mostly steady 2-3 mile runs the past 3-4 weeks as I haven't been able to run consistently due to a bloody and painful toe for a few days (not running-related) and twice due to my dodgy ankle - it seems running on hills kills it for a couple of days, so I'll have to stick to the relatively flat stuff for now I guess (the doctor said my ankle could take 2 years to heal).
Despite that, I knocked 78 seconds off my 5k PB (now 22:14) today, after thinking I felt too exhausted to run during the first 1k! I only ran my first 5k six weeks ago, and it was my 7th run of 5k or over. I didn't know what to expect when I started, but it feels like amazing progress!
I set a 2-mile target of under 14-minutes not too long ago, and broke that by 1 second yesterday and a further 16 seconds as part of the 5k today. So I'll go for a harder target and say I want to run a 5k in 21-minutes by the end of December...or January. After that, I imagine things are going to get much tougher. I'd also like to start increasing my distances towards 10k, ankle allowing.

Last virtual race of the season this morning a 15K. Got the pacing spot on with three back to back 20 minute 5Ks. Just shy of 600 feet of elevation so I think I earned my huge slice of cake afterwards

Shame it's getting cold just as I'm finding some 'form.'

I upped my longest distance from 6k to 9k today and felt comfortable, apart from my dodgy ankle which is hurting. Hopefully it'll feel okay tomorrow. There's also a cow manure swamp I will be avoiding next time. Last virtual race of the season this morning a 15K. Got the pacing spot on with three back to back 20 minute 5Ks. Just shy of 600 feet of elevation so I think I earned my huge slice of cake afterwards How do virtual races work? I'm guessing they're just a bit of fun/motivation given runners will be on different terrain and gradients?
