"Virtual" racing ironically the Werrington 10K yesterday. It's a fairly traffic free route apart from the Withystakes junction and even that has the parallel pavement if you remember. The other benefit is it meets elevation requirements. Ten of us ran it over two groups. What’s the route? Have you got a picture please? There was something called the ‘Werrington 6’ for a couple of years in the mid 80s. From Shaggers Knowsley Common towards Bagnall take a left all the way up that huge hill to Doggers Wetley Common down to Withystakes take a left down the straight up the hill past the two Shaggers lay byes on the left and that just about it.

You'll be fine next week, nice and flat. I may see if they are still taking entries, couple of Guinness watching the footy this afternoon may have swayed me. They were still taking entries for the Run the bypass up to the last minute..... I heard yesterday that it was the greed of pushing the numbers up to 1500 that caused the issues there. It all depends on any further announcements tomorrow I suppose but as has been pointed out on this thread these companies just promote the races irrespective of possible cancellation. They're re-routed to say within Cheshire East because Cheshire West wouldn't sanction the race but Cheshire East were happy. One is ok with it and the other isn't so it's been re-routed. There's around 10 waves going off and each wave is split into two runners, two metres apart going off every 10 seconds. To be fair to the organisers I don't think they can do any more than they have.

I know a lot of people who are hoping to run it because it's the only completely accurate way of measuring how well you're performing and also the only way to get an official time over to UK Athletics.

Well happy with anything under 53. My PB is 49.20 but I'm a million miles away from that. I pushed it tonight to see what time I could hit. Given lack of regular training for a couple of months, I'm very happy with sub-53. Low 50s is always a time I'm happy with. I'd like to break 49 minutes longterm, although I'll probably set that as a goal for next year. I just want to get back into a regular routine for the next couple of months, and get good miles in the bank. Are you training for anything in particular, or just keeping body and mind healthy mate?

Nothing in particular just like you say, to keep body and mind in good shape. I've said earlier I don't really enjoy it all but do feel much better for doing it afterwards. In the past I ran about 6-7 half marathons but my main aim is to run a parkrun in under 25 minutes. I read once that if you do that then you're a 'proper runner!' Keep going with it!

Dodgy and unreliable GPS I use map my run to plot the different routes and distances - My watch GPS says 7.7km when I do a 10K I used a 10K online calculator to work out the mile/min average. So, yes it's dodgy and unreliable.

It's an interesting one this because I'm assuming the times I've had this year are fairly accurate but who knows. I did the Wammy Parkrun on this Garmin watch about 4 or 5 months back knowing where the start line and the return are and finished exactly on the finish line.

Not a challenge for the proper runners Don't let this put you off Fel I started the year glad to be back running after three years on and off during which I've got even older Bizarrely I seem to gradually getting back towards that form of three years ago so my head is now starting to entertain the thought of a sub 19 minute 5K again.
