I paced her on Sunday for the first 13 miles. I was out for a long lunch yesterday with your top lady runner, one of only a handful of runners in the area capable of a world class percentage

Calf felt better, not 100% but don't think I'm too far off. My speed wasn't too bad either after so long so happy with that. My body probably needed a rest now I'm over 30, don't know how some runners keep themselves in such top condition at over twice the age 😉

Mix and match Buxton Hilly on Tuesday up next.

Pleasing 5 miler yesterday. Seasons best and also through the distances 1K 3:35, 1 mile 5:56 and 5K 19:30. Not quite at the heights of three years ago pre injury but the times are now starting to drop with every race

A lovely slow 8 miles last night on my own in just about perfect running conditions. Stopped half way around to have a chat with an old neighbour 6 miles cross country tonight.

I took up running as lockdown started as my bike (my usual method of exercise) broke. I soon knackered my ankle after being unable to buy good-fitting running shoes thanks to shoe shops closing. I could barely walk for a week, only hobbling round the house, and hadn't been able to regularly exercise again until a couple of weeks ago when x-rays came back clear. My ankle still hurts, and I'm told it could take a year or 2 to fix if it's soft tissue damage. I hope I've been diagnosed correctly. Light cycling hurts much more than running.
Anyway, it's awesome to be exercising regularly again, whatever the weather (I actually prefer inclement to hot conditions). I got a 2-mile PB today of 15m19s (my sixth 2-mile run). My next target is under 14 minutes. I like the motivation of trying to improve the times, and I've looked at county standard times for the various age ranges (35+ for me). I plan to run my first 5k by the end of September. It's easier than I expected to run further, after I started running slower with shorter steps, rather than knackering myself out within half a mile. I also feel better after running, even when I feel too knackered (like today) to go out.
When I started running - even when I was able to run regularly again since the start of September, I didn't want to run 10k. But now I'd like to - maybe a lovely slow pace like felonious mentions above. 6 miles seems about the maximum I'd like to run, but who knows what'll happen when I get there...

Delamere Forest last night, started off going up old pale hill, never a good thing, but you can see 7 counties from the top, 7 mile run and places I hadn't been to and went past a pub I'd never heard of before just tucked away off a track/road and past some massive houses ££££££££

I hear that Sunday's Run the bypass at Alderley Edge has been pulled.
I assume the same fate will now await the Arley 10K in a few weeks time.

Talking of pulled races....it should have been Alcester 10k in couple of weeks, triumphantly saying how Covid safe it was with all measures in place. Runners entered from as far as Manchester as well, its a race! Taking entries up to 17th.....18th called off! Not even had the ok off the council, emergency services or anyone. No refunds! Now look you can turn around a say dont plan anything & also the entry fee is going to charity BUT saying a race is on when you advent even got the nod of your local council.
Fleece the runners again...and the same company are still advertising another race in Leamington Spa I believe.
Today should have been going to Berlin for the marathon....:-(

I would've loved a gale behind me cycling down, but it was always a headwind. I think my average downhill cycling speed was only about 13mph half the time (I couldn't pedal either as my top gears were broken). Another thing I'll associate with this dystopian year is regular apocalyptic winds. Today I ran 3 miles for the first time. I kept a comfortable pace and averaged 8:11/mile. My knees are burning now, which hasn't happened after running before. I feel good for the exercise though.

Lovely 13 mile run around Cheddleton and Ipstones yesterday morning at a pleasant, slowish pace. Such a shame there's no Congleton Half next month to test my legs on.

I don't get this running lark. I recently tried to break my mile PB on a mile run but was a few seconds off. I was 2 seconds off my 1-mile PB today as part of a 2-mile run of 14:37 (PB by 42 seconds at 7:22 pace), and I felt too knackered to run so wasn't actually going to. On my previous 2-mile run (only a few days ago), I did try to break my PB and only did by 2 seconds. Yet I break it by 42 seconds when I'm very tired and not trying that hard. It means I've shaved 2 minutes off my 2-mile time since my first 2-miler under 4 weeks ago. Lots of 4s and 2s amongst all that... Anyway, I know there will come a point when the times stop tumbling.

I’ve started doing a small warm up using resistance loops just to activate the leg muscles you don’t use every day but that need to jump into life when you start running

Part of my recovery from ankle injury was using them, but I should keep it up. Thanks for the reminder.
