Anyone else with any races entered soon? Loads of virtual races. One of my friends did the Burton 18 on Sunday but with staggered starts I can't get my head around it. Ive got Alcester 10k in October with starts every 30 seconds & Swansea Half is still going ahead with restrictions in place now in November Stafford half seems an age ago

More than 7 minutes slower than my 10k PB this evening.
After 6 weeks off.
Its like I've never run before.
Felt sick today.

Anyone else with any races entered soon? Alderley Edge 10k end of next month. Going to get my arse in gear for it. Been a struggle lately to get motivated to train properly.

Giving the virtual races a rest for a while and focusing on training. Too much cake during lockdown? No 20 then? I've found it difficult training for a long race and smashing out times for all the short fast races which I can't train for. I must admit I had a really pleasing 5 mile race this week back to my old routine of going out hard and hanging on for grim death This new watch gave me PBs of 3.39 for the first kilometre, 5.59 for the mile and 19.45 for the 5K You do realise there is a Compleat award on the horizon?

Too much cake and beer π I think my body does better with training for a couple of months then racing rather than racing too much. Some brilliants times there! Think I'm going to give compleat a miss and train properly for a while with consistent speed and tempo sessions. Then see what races are around.

10k plod around Stevenage last night, quite surprised it was 50 minutes, suppose no kissing gates, styles or footbridges to negotiate helps, and the pace quickens around unsavoury looking locals.

Exactly the same time here yesterday afternoon doing a recce with one of the ladies for a virtual. Interesting about the unsavouries I was doing a 10 mile run early on Saturday morning between Westport Lake and Harecastle at 7 in the morning and had to run past a drink/drug? addled bloke busy throwing his hands up to the sky and gesticulating

(One for the teenagers there) Done nowt really during the heatwave so managed a rather pleasing 55 minute 10k on Saturday. Been looking at the correct 'fuel' as recommended by Jammers Felonious the other day. On a twitter run chat thread last week a few were praising rice pudding the night before as their go to staple pre-run food. I'll be having some tonight before tomorrows run. Expect my first sub 53 minute 10k imminently

Expect my first sub 53 minute 10k imminently I would say the rice pudding helped a bit - not really much of a quicker time but certainly felt a bit easier than the previous run. If nothing else it's quite nice to have for supper/breakfast. It was also a bit cooler and I think the heat has the biggest impact on slowing me down. I look like an unspent match when I've finished and it takes ages to cool back down again. A 10K every 3 days is enough for me these days with the weekly small game of football thrown in. Got to keep looking up to the more senior members of the ORC in order to stay motivated...

Shorter one tonight. Was aiming to duck under 25, but reasonably happy. Steady progress after a 6 week break. I am signing up for Tatton Park 10k in October πππββοΈπββοΈ
