Wise words grasshopper. What about drinking lucozade before running? Anyone try that? I’m running about 8.30/45 for my first few miles and then tail off to about 10 minutes at the end. I’m knackered. Might the lucozade help? I remember it helping me a bit when I used to play football. Sounds like you might need to get the food intake right. If I'm running at 6:30 in the evening I need something around 3:00/ 3:30 ish. The other thing is if you're concentrating on 10Ks and struggling towards the end it might be worth chucking the odd slower 7/8 miler in every week just to make sure you got the stamina to last a 10K at pace. You don't need Lucozade Riiiiiiight - So spiced rum the night before and a bowl of coco pops maybe not cutting the mustard? I see. I'll go for the longer/slower 7/8 miler in the meantime.

There were 4 of us doing the race this morning. We did the socially distanced photo afterwards and the other guy looked better on it after the race than before.... out on the piss last night

Well Coventry festival of running(!) are stating they will definite go ahead with measures in place early November, as will Alcester which isn't too far away from me London Marathon however.....

CancelledNottingham half cancelled now. Not that I was going to enter anyway Off to get some new running shoes later Here they are. (The new ones are on the left) I've had the others for over 10 years. Guy in the shop said that not only do they not make that trainer anymore but that they don't actually make trainers in that way anymore. Much amusement in the shop followed. Am expecting to fly round the 10K course and smash the PB tomorrow - especially if I can stay off the rum tonight

Bet you've been Flinstoneing those.

Just enjoyed getting out on Sunday morning, cool but sunny, a pleasant 10 miles around the lanes and country parks. Last Thursday evening we went some local places I hadn't been before, ran through a field with cows in, then from under a few trees came a few bullocks, one snorting ... we got to the other side of the field sharpish, and there was a sign saying 'bull in field' We are planning on doing our own little club 10k or half marathon next month, mainly as a target for people to get out, and you get a mug with the club logo and the distance on (for £4)

10 miles tonight on the tough section of this weekend's half marathon in 73:17. In theory it's looking like 1:33/ 1:34 providing the wheels don't come off. Hopefully with a bit of company at the weekend I should get the time.

Had a bit of an injury this week so very little running for the first time in a long time. Body knows it's approaching 30 in less than a month 😱
Think I'm feeling ok after a gentle run around Knylersley this morning, so time to have a bash at Leek Virtual Half tomorrow!

Virtual half done today with around 600ft elevation.
1:23, not my best, but not shabby.

I've knackered my left Achilles from exclusively running on hills since lockdown (I don't have much choice around here) and it doesn't seem to be improving. I gave it 2 months off and have just been out for a few gentle bike rides in that time. I tried to start my comeback this week on holiday in Devon, where I could do a few flatter runs, but it still feels like it's on fire by the end. It almost feels like it's got shorter somehow and feels constantly tight especially in the morning. I've had it before and it's gone away after a few weeks' rest but this is taking ages. Anyone had this before? I guess I just need more rest but I can tell I'm getting to the stage where I'm losing fitness fast Rubbish!
