I've been told it's probably a little too dangerous to run the actual course unfortunately. I didn't think about the roundabout, can be a bit busy there. If I start just after, I can just finish further up The Wammy. I've just replied, embarassingly accurate 😂 I've just done the 4 miles taking in Blackbank and I make it exactly 300 feet of climb. I started at the old railway bridge just above Garners traffic lights heading towards Knutton village took a left into Acacia Road then right at Malham Road and left onto Blackbank Road then followed the Newcastle 10K route. Mile 1 is about 300 metres short of the Windmill carpark at Apedale, mile 2 just beyond the transmitter, mile 3 at the top of Scot Hay village and the finish is just before the car park at the football club where the first mini roundabout is. Too hot to run hard at 25 degrees splits were 8:05, 8:30, 7:30 and 6:47. I reckon racing they should be something like 6:50, 7:15, 6:30 and 5:45.... you can take another minute off each of them Thanks Fel, does it start/finish at roughly the same elevation too?

Berlin 2020 finally & complete cancelled today with no alternative date this year. Help For Heroes who I was running for are just awaiting conformation regarding the charity places..:-(
Gutted really as was well into training & also the tough part of raising money for them (a rather acceptable £800 was well in sight)
...and people still think London will happen?

Elevation gain 97 metres, elevation loss 49 metres. Ken's just given it the nod. To be fair it felt like an easy run and I can't see how you're going to replicate Cheadle without going way over the 300 feet. I'll send you the details. The first, third and fourth miles are easy, the second is uphill on Blackbank but it's a long hill without any particularly steep sections plus the pavement has got to be the best in Newcastle Under Lyme

Another test run on the 4 mile course this morning 27:44. Happy with that considering yesterday's run was still in my legs and it was blowing a gale up on the top by the transmitter

I've been deliberating the Leek Half route, has to be minimum 500ft elevation. Biddulph Valley Way is an option, I need to try it out, just out and back, but no cars to worry about.

Interestingly this Garmin is telling me that I had a 1 mile PB at 6:07 and a kilometre PB at 3:45 during this morning's run. I'll have a look at the Biddulph Valley Way may be an option as I run with a few of their runners. I've sent you the Blackbank Half Marathon option. Are you planning on doing the Trentham 5K? No elevation requirement but an off road segment being stipulated to cover the usual start and finish on grass. I heard yesterday that some of these local "virtuals" have attracted entrants from as far away as Canada and Germany

Went out yesterday morning, with Saturday nights wine and rum (armed forces day, Pussers Gunpowder rum 54%) in me, got up, water, banana and out the door in 15 minutes, pleasant 1.50 half marathon, felt fine for once, think I'll set up a gel company with alcohol in them

I think it's the way forward. Rumozade anyone?

I thought about you on Saturday morning as I found myself in the company of Ken, Stan and Alan, all 33/34 minute 10K men well into their 40s and wondered should I let them know that Yes tells me it was all done on short courses

I don’t know why I bother it hurts.
5km 24.25. According to training peaks my best in that was a 24.09
If you haven’t got it I recommend training peaks. The free version. Just keep tabs on your activity linked to Garmin and gives you things like your individual stress score for an activity etc

The good news....2 x 5km runs over 2 nights, at 24 on Monday & 26 last night.... ...The bad news. Was stung by something on my eyelid & this morning after allergic reaction to sting/shit match at Wigan last night its antihistamine day in the Caerwrangon house. Looks like Ive been in a Saturday night brawl circa Longton 1990s.

5 years ago today joined Strava and on my newly acquired road bike did 11 miles in 48 minutes. I was over 18 stone and felonious can confirm I was heart attack waiting to happen. I was 40 In that time I’ve done bits and pieces of running got down to a 48 min 10km run but 32000 miles on the bike including mountains in France, forty over 100 mile rides, and a 200 mile ride. Strava has been great for motivating myself as this thread and the people on it I’ve lost 5 stone, mental health is better, got the family more active We can all do anything if you put your mind to it

I think that pretty much puts us on par for achievements mate

Redapples, I want to see you out running this week, that's enough recovery now 😉 Been out for the first time tonight in around 2 and a half weeks. I didn't intend it to be that long a break, but I've been a bit lazy in all honesty!! Managed 10k in 50:23. I was hoping for sub 50 but I had quite bad stitch for about 1km (and I never get stitch) and the new trainers took a bit of getting used too as well (first time wearing them). Just happy to get out there to be honest.
