Once I've got this half out of the way I think I'll revert back to 10ks for a while. Can you recommend any fast courses I can sign up for? Looking to shave time off my PB 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ How long are you thinking after your half to train for it? Wilmslow 10k is my favourite, but a long way off. I dont mind really. I might do a few over the rest of the year mate. Sub 49 is the immediate target. If I can get down to 48 (or close to) over the longer term, I'd be very happy.

Air Products 10K in Crewe on Easter Sunday, two laps you can take the kids. Whitley 10K in beautiful Northy countryside on the outskirts of Northwich Sunday 3rd May you can take the kids. Stone St Michaels 10K Sunday 28th June, 2 laps you can take the kids it's based at the school with the school fair on the same day. All have a base for shelter if the weather's bad. There are two local 10Ks at Newcastle and Clayton but they are undulating with slightly slowere overall times. Newcastle 10k in particular! I've generally got roughly the same time on them. Last time I ran them a few years back I had 39 minutes for each but Air Products in between was a minute faster. Once you've got up to the transmitter at High Lane on the Newcastle 10K it's the easiest 6K you'll ever race.....if there's anything left in the legs

Hoping to be recovered enough for Clayton too, that was my 2nd sub 40, might have been the same year you did 39?

Rugeley cancelled this morning, some of the course flooded. Just been out for 16 miles, weather is fine now but lots of pockets of water. Shame that but I suppose they were concerned about the roads being open to traffic and people avoiding the puddles by running into the middle of the road. I've done a cheeky 8 through the local floods I've got a 15 planned first thing tomorrow morning.

Been keeping up with the running - I'm starting to get mardy when I don't get out which is a good sign that it's becoming a good habit. Had my first parkrun in ages about 2 weeks ago and got round in 37 minutes with more discomfort in my legs rather than the breathing. Did another one on Saturday and got around in 33:20 - sub 30 min is my next goal.
Just had a 'longer' 6.3km run this lunchtime to build my legs up over a longer distance and looking to build this up over the weeks to at least 10km. I'm hoping to to have at least 3/4 runs a week now (1 longer distance slow paced jog, 1 shorter best effort over say 3km, and then some intervals at best effort pace. The 4th would then be the parkrun on a saturday. Does that sound reasonable or is that too much?

I tend to run 3 times a week but then I'm old Most of my running mates run between 3 and 5 times a week but they choose their days to put efforts in and the length of runs vary. You'll know when you want to go faster or longer. I know it keeps getting repeated on here but all the local clubs are friendly and offer helpful advice. You'll probably get that vibe from your Parkrun.

I'm a marathon runner of old really struggling to get back in the mindset. It's 2 and half years since my last mara and I had a really shit, stressful few years, put on 5 stone and stopped running. I've been getting out a bit and have lost 2 but I've got Paris marathon in 7 weeks and have to shit a miracle now just to get round.
I used to enjoy this! I dont know where that head has gone.
It's good motivation reading this thread.

22 wet and muddy miles this morning, you know it's wet when you see a roach swimming along the side by the path you are running on, and the small overflowing lake is about 20 yards away

Nearly every run for the last few weeks seems to have been a battle against the elements.

I did 15 miles along the Leeds - Liverpool canal yesterday morning and the wind was so strong at one point that there were decent-sized waves with breakers blowing right down the middle.
