Is he still represented by Kia Joorabchian? Yes and what a situation we find ourselves in. He fails, we fail. He succeeds, Kia finds him a new job and drops us in the shit. What a choice!

To be fair, he's got 63, 58 and 52 with Blackburn. That would constitute real 'pushing on' if he could replicate it here. I'm not a huge fan of his - but I get the impression he'd be more likeable if he was one of yours, not one of theirs. A bit like John Terry or Luis Suarez. A bit like TP really

All the traffic looks like Hughes. Good - Anyone but Poyet. What's his style of football like, Sheiky? I think he's a dour bastard, does his footy follow suit?

I voted for him in the manager poll yesterday.
I know he's not the sexy choice people want, but I reckon he'd be a safe pair of hands and would be a real upgrade on Pulis.
His time at QPR was disastrous, but there were mitigating circumstances, they totally ripped the squad up and brought in way too many new players all at once.

I don't fookin like him, but as someone else has said, maybe he's more likeable if he's one of ours? Just the same as when he was playing, opposition hated him, the manc's loved him, and still do Take the QPR stint out of his career, and it's been pretty good, plus the fact he hates Wenger too!

The man destroys every team he ever manages!!! Then he gets sacked and someone else comes in and takes the flack for HIS mess. Look what he did to QPR! They gave him a pile of money and he spent the lot on a pile of shite on massive wages! same at Man City really... He can only attract players buy offering massive wages, and long contracts. And he always falls out with the players. And even tactically he's crap! Please PLEASE don't let it be Mark Hughes!!!! I feel sick at the thought...

I find it hard to really get behind him with any enthusiasm. But I do agree, Serps. I can't get outraged at the thought of him becoming manager. I always thought he'd be high on PC's list

It feels like Hughes
whether you like him or not, if you ignore his awful performance at QPR you would think he is a fairly safe choice at pushing us on to the next level.
I anticipate a lot of angry fans in the short-term but that will quickly be forgotten if he starts next season well.

I'll say again, Mark Bowen is the brains behind Mark Hughes.
Together it works, but without Bowen, Hughes is nowt.

He had very good records at Blackburn and Fulham, its harsh to judge him at Man City its obvious he wasn't the Arabs preferred manager when they brought the club. QPR was a disaster but equally the owner had no idea about football. Hughes and Coates would work imo Wales!!! Enlighten me. He kept Fulham and Blackburn in the prem and nothing more - I thought we wanted more than that?(40 points) Tell me success stories Ok I'll enlighten you Blackburn 2004/05: 15th (reached the FA cup semi final losing ti eventual winners Arsenal) 2005/06: 6th (qualified for Europe, lost league cup semi final to eventual winners Man Utd) 2006/07: 10th (reached FA cup semi final losing to eventual winners Chelsea) 2007/08: 7th Fulham. 2010/11: 8th Successful signings: Kompany £6m Samba £400k Bentley £500k RSC £3.5m Just to name 4, he also took Wales to within a whiskers of Euro 2004 no other Welsh manager has come closer since 1953.

So how exactly did he destroy 1) Blackburn 2) Man City 3) Fulham ? I'd like to see your explanation I don't like Mark Hughes but you can't make up outrageous statements like that. Even at QPR did he destroy the team? Who was in charge of transfers?

Mark Hughes cannot become manager of Stoke. We might as well stuck with Pulis.

I don't think they would mate. After all the laughing and joking (and crying) has died down, I reckon it would settle down nicely. I think Stokies are a fair bunch overall.

"They" didn't totally rip the squad up and bring in way too many new players all at once... MARK HUGHES DID!!!! I'm not so sure about that, I don't know the ins and outs of his time at QPR, but i suspect a lot of players were signed by the owners, rather than the manager per se. Of course he's not totally blameless, but given his decent record at other clubs you'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Also, outside of Rafa, who else is there ? I don't like the idea of Di Matteo or Martinez, i think they'd represent way too much of a change and they don't convince me, Hughes could come in and pick up from where TP left off and work with the existing players, but unlike Pulis i think he;d be much more receptive to the purchasing of foreign based players.

And you'd hope he was a bit chastened by events at QPR, and has maybe reflected on things.
A slight downsizing of his ego might have calmed him down nicely.

Would be nice if the board brought in a man that did not split the fans right down the middle for a change. I will be right behind whoever comes in, but would be a bit dissapointed if it was Hughes. Not to say that he wont do a great job though
