Would anyone like to see giovanni trapattoni? And the joke of the day goes to.... An old negative cunt who rates Jon Walters and believes Glenn Whelan is the "next Gattusso" is the last thing we need. Surely its more realistic than Benitez? Just putting a name out there.

Just putting a name out there. Getting rid of Pulis makes absolutely no sense unless you're going for a change of direction, Trap would not provide that so would be a pointless appointment.

What a week I've had.
My son was born, I won a shed load of cash as winner of our dream team league and today, Tony Pulis has seemingly left Stoke City Football Club.
I think it is fair to say that this is the greatest week of my life! :-)
I was fairly certain that TP would leave as far back as December and was absolutely convinced of it come the end of January and I am delighted that the stories and rumours that I had heard have appeared to be 100% true.
Thanks for your efforts Tony Pulis and thanks for caring so obviously about our club whilst it suited you but I make no apologies for saying "good riddance and thank fuck it's all over".
My enthusiasm for Stoke City Football Club returned within 10 seconds of being texted this great news.

This has been a terrific debate about Tony Pulis. and the issue is now sorted. Despite recent comments by some this is a great board, with some knowledgeable posters. It was always a decision for Peter Coates and he has made it. Whatever views were expressed on here, people only had the best interest of Stoke City at heart. Life is about thinking ahead and I'm sure that is what both Stoke City and Tony Pulis will do. 'triffic. Gonna miss you geoff321, you worked 'aaard. Don't be a stranger eh?

Congratulations on your good fortune Johnno, I've only managed one of the three and I'm still over the moon. Pulis was damaging my enthusiasm for the game generally not just our own matches. It feels like the first sunny morning after a very long dark winter.

They must have someone lined up, surely ? I doubt Coates would let Pulis go without a plan in place, particularly since this hasn't been forced on them.
I'd like to see Rafa come in, but I think it's unlikely. If I was a betting man my money would go on Mark Hughes, he pretty much ticks all the boxes and has done (QPR aside) decent jobs at similar sized clubs.

I genuinely think we will all regret today. For me the expectation has become unrealistic and it seems Coates has bowed to supporter pressure. Hounded out you could say.
A crying shame

A crying shame So you think the expectation to play a little bit of football is unrealistic? Expectation to try and win a game of football and create a few chances? Or are you one of these who seem to think those who wanted him gone expect Champions League football? Lets not forget we have not improved in 5 years and have spent more than anyone around us. Barely ambitious is it?

A crying shame I don't buy into the expectation thing, fans want to see a spectacle, suffocating and stiffling games is ok for the first few years in the premiership if it works, but when you're still doing it 5 years and 100m later, that's totally unacceptable. For me TP's departure is totally justified and perfectly timed, it's time for new ideas.

He's never been afraid of making a decision.

A crying shame I think if I'd spent £90 million my expectations would be for better than a lot of the crap that's been served up over the last 2 seasons. I also wouldn't appreciate someone telling the world how careful he was being with my family's money and then wasting it on players that were never used.

The assumption that he has been hounded or forced out baffles me. The story of TP wanting out because of family problems last year, but being persuaded by PC to stay for one more year, for all of this seasons' riches seems more than plausible to me...

Grateful for all he's done, getting us into the Premier League, FA Cup Final, jaunt in Europe but it's about time he went as the club was quickly starting to stagnate and becoming a laughing stock. On the replacement front, René Girard has left Montpellier stating that he'd like to take up a new challenge in England. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22381080

The time was right for the manager to move on imo and personally i'm glad that he is leaving as I believe that he has taken us as far as he can. However we owe him our gratitude for what he has achieved over the last few seasons and I feel a bit sad that we have not been able to give him the send off that he deserved. Best of luck for the future tone.
