Got in the ground just as they were showing the footage on the big screen. Immediately felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end along with a lump in the throat. It's the closest I've come to crying at a football match. The period that Paul broke into the team was when I first became hooked on Stoke City as young lad. I will be forever greatfull to everyone associated to that side. It made me realise that despite all the doom and gloom that's been around the club recently Stoke City area team and every fan, player or manager that has shared the passion I have is just an extended member of my family.

Norwich fans were a class act on Saturday, it has to be said. To not just respect Paul's tribute, but to join in was genuinely touching.

Attending the PFA Annual awards, last night, i was surprised and pleased to see that, even in the programme, Paul had been added to the list of those lost this past year, with his football details. He also received a mention before the pre-meal grace, by Gordon Taylor.
I mention this in the hope that someone who will atend his funeral, tomorrow, may be able to pass it on to his family. Thanks.
It is really meant for Bunny - and good luck with the service address - but have not yet fathomed how to send a private message on this new board, when so easy, before!

I wonder how the funeral went today and what the turnout was like?
I have thought about this at numerous intervals as the working day has progressed.

Cheers Dave. Much appreciated.
Great that so many of our team from 92/93 or a little before, turned up and were all together.
Popular amongst players and fans and always a Stokie. 24 years old when he left us yet he left the most amazing mark on everyone that saw him play.
So often we aren't proud enough of our history and our former players and we don't shout about such things enough. Perhaps Paul Ware passing away at such a young age could be the catalyst for our club to take such things more seriously in the future. For all the shit that we have watched over the years, we really have had some great people and great players represent our club.
Paul Ware, seemingly given testaments from those that actually knew him, clearly falls into both categories and is proof positive that you don't need to be the big name, big money, top league player to be a hero to football supporters. You don't even have to be the best player at the club to be amongst the most popular.
So many things make a player great, and to us, Paul Ware was a great player.

I attended the funeral today with Bunny who had been asked by Paul's family to deliver an eulogy about his time at Stoke The Church was packed and as seen from the photos on the Sentinel link there was good presence of players from Warey's time A real sad occasion especially the heart breaking tribute read out by his 2 daughters Bunny's eulogy was excellenty prepared and presented and must have taken real guts to do with so many people there. The eulogy just highlighted what a great player/person that Warey was We''ll be with you played as his coffin was taken out of the Church RIP Warey

not wrote on here yet, so here goes.
Im so gutted to hear this, Paul was one of my first 'pretend to be in the playground players'. It was either Stein, Biggins, Beeston or Warey. I remember watching the pertrborough game around a friends house who had sky sports, what a game, what a goal and what a great memory.
Had more than a few tears in my eyes during the moments he was remembered on Saturday, i tell you what, i never knew him or met him but id drop ten leagues for his lovely family to have him back. Puts everything into perspective.
Love to the family, be strong, it does get easier in time, I lost my mum four years ago at what many would consider a young age, if his family can spread even one percent of the joy he gave us fans, they will have had a good life.
Matt x
