I read a review on the indian gaff and it wasn't good think i will swerve that i dont want gandi's revenge whilst visiting... Read there is a pub called " the windmill" that any good ? Your are right to give the Indian a miss, nowhere near as good as it was when it opened, swynnerton arms not too good either food wise, can't comment on the windmill as its ages since I have been. I can however comment on The Upper House in nearby Barlaston as I have been there often and can confirm that it's well worth a visit and the best you will find close by to where you are staying. cheers fella looks good might go there for afternoon tea... I will show wife menu later and see what she says..

Stoke town hall is in stoke town centre and goes by the name of kings hall. Ta You see, this is why Stone woulda been top of my list owd, you coulda had the delights of Barlaston, and the Downs banks plus a good curry and a scenic canal walk with a couple of scoops in the Star on the canal side. Meir Heath's nice enough mate

You missed out the glorious sound of leather on willow and you call yourself a cricket man. Anyway stop it now, I'm homesick enough as it is. Most definately a Cricket man mate , but I didn't want to lay it on too thick !and don't forget the pitter patter of raindrops that accompany it

Can't believe nobody recommended The Flowerpot up Snowhill. Seriously if you are off to the arboretum I would have stayed at the Hampton or the Hilton at St Georges Park. It's a fantastic site for a footy nut and the hotels are real swish and not too bad price wise. (It's about a 40 min drive to the Brit and about 15 mins from Alrewas) If anyones passing any time you can just drive in and have a look round (unless the England first team are in residence)It's well worth a look.

Cheers fella might consider there when i cone back up again.. This family ancestory research is very time consuming and i wont be doing all i want in 1 visit thats for sure. Already booked a researcher to tell me about my grandads military background serving in the south staffordshire regiment during WW1.. Only problem is they can only tell me about the staffordshire regiment and i know he served in northamptonshire , notts and derbyshire as well ( i believe they became the sherwood foresters )so there are other paths for me to follow there.. As for family research i am now back into the mid 1700's with our family name and 1 thing i have found is the name samuel ( or sampson ) runs right through the family till the present day ie with me and also my nephew ( hopefully my son and his girlfriend will have another child ie son and then continue the name.. right need a bit of help here where would the area PEAR TREES in stoke be or where was it ( if anyone knows ) this it seems where my great great great great grandad was buried.. cheers fellas ps hopefully i will meet up with who has been helping me b4 game against spurs or after and buy them a beer.
