Cameron was part of a midfield that interchanaged more than normal. Cameron, Whelan and Nzonzi all had times as the deepest midfielder.

Put him in his proper position and give him a run in it, he will be a good player for us, it is hard enough coming to the Premier League as it is, but to come here and be fucked about position wise makes it even harder. Hardest league in the world ? I know lets sign a player from overseas and play him out of position, because we don't seem to have enough players out of position at the moment. ( sarcastic face thingy)

I didnt think he looked great in that position but Arsenal away is a tough first gig. Let him have another chance in a game with a different 'balance'.
(I have to admit I am somewhat motivated by a feeling of 'anything to keep Charlie Adam out of the side').

I like Geoff, but his eagerness can sometimes get the better of him. He gets drawn to the ball.
At one point in the first half yesterday, he followed Sagna out wide, leaving room for an Arsenal player to run inside him. Luckily, they didn't take advantage, but he needs to get out of this childlike "go wherever the ball goes" thing.
I do get the feeling that Pulis is starting to not trust him though. When the above incident occurred, you could hear Pulis, shout "NO GEOFF" before he'd even done it ;D
As i said though, i like him, and think he's got some great qualities. His tackling is very effective, and going by the Arsenal game at the start of the season, can pick a forward pass out when the opportunity arises (hardly ever does these days it seems). I'd like to see him at least have a few games in midfield to see if he can add a bit of discipline into his game. After that avenue is exhausted, then i don't where we go from there.

We will see more confusing player assignments while TP tries to sqeeze the players he has payed millions for into his rigid system. At times there will even appear to be attempts to change the system; these will not last long as TP believes there is only one way to play.
Playing square pegs in round holes is not new for TP. In the past it has been forced on him by the playing squads he has been forced to work with. At the moment he has no such excuse. The players at SCFC have been expensively assesmbled by TP and TP alone. Since the FA Cup final he has spent a fortune on players who do not fit his system.
He will complain about things not going his way in the transfer market and will highlight this with more bizarre selections. This should not distract from his recent failures to bring to the club players who suit his system rather than misfits and "ego purchases".
Personally I think Cameron has the makings of an adequate RB. He could also do a job in front of Huth and Ryan in a midfield 3 and is probably our best cover for CB should injury and suspension come into play. Geoff Cameron for me is a valuable squad member. He is not a support striker. Something he has in common with Adam, Owen, Jerome, Kightly,Crouch and Jones. Only Walters, from the current squad can play this role.We know Walters can be effective behind Jones. This leaves no place for some of TP's biggest "ego purchases". We could return to this combination, although I'd like to see Jones and Jerome play as a front 2 with them filling in midfield gaps when play dictates.
Despite fantastic financial backing TP has an " unblanced squad" without the type of players essential to his system. It is his own fault.

Personally think hes looked decent in each position since hes signed, after what i saw today CM does look like a more natural role for him however. this. I don't get the hate. Granted, he hasn't set the world alight, but he's been 'good' in most games he's played.

I really don't know where we go with Cameron. Nice, sensible lad who is a good athlete. BUT, we have tried him left of defence, right of defence, centre defence, centre midfield and now withdrawn striker and he looks out of his depth everywhere on the pitch. Surely today if TP had trusted Cameron in defence he would have played right hand side with Shotton on the flank and SJW behind Crouch. But after his calamitous games against Swansea and Wigan, it looks like TP is trying to fit Cameron into anywhere other than a defensive role. Not sure what you`re expecting of the lad,I think he looks a decent player and certainly NOT out of his depth. After the summer break and a proper pre season I think we`ll see a pretty decent utilty player next season.

Best signing this season think he's done really well in most games, not really had time to settle in a role yet so if he gets a run of games in center mid i think he'll do really well.
